Xmas Lurgy and bike build permitting, I intend to be on the gravel bikepacking micro adventure on Saturday. I will be deploying motorised assistance to the start/finish.

I’m not available on Saturday, not that I’m feeling ready for a cycle ride yet. Hopeful for a short outing on Sunday though.

I can't get my GK's to go on the rim so no suitable tyres for Saturday at the moment - I think they have been folded for too long so not popping on to the rim even with lubrication and 140psi air.  Might try leaving them overnight with an innertube in them...

OK, GK's fitted and seem to be staying inflated.  Subject to them staying inflated overnight I'll be out and about tomorrow... any takers?

Departing 10AM from the start point (green triangle The Street/Main Rd, Howe Street - please let me know if you are going to ride, if not then I'll skip the extra to get to Howe Street

Joergen

I am about an hour away from completing my bike build (bleed brakes, check gears and sort bars/shifters before bar tape) but I have also left my car at Witham Station so later works for me.

Despite enthusiasm shown on Wednesday evening I won't be joining you for the Saturday gravel adventure.

I won't be ready by 10.30 but we definitely need to do it some other time.

Have a good ride.

Bike was cleaner than expected but mostly self cleaned by the amount of water around!

I recognise the second one. Always no problem going through the stream on my MTB. In fact it had run dry last summer!

Yeah I've been through it in the summer but it was too boggy and deep this time round :) Plus there are a load of bricks in there which I'd rather see before discovering them submerged.

It's sort of between Radley Green and Cooksmill Green.

I intend riding a route check of the Kelvedon Oyster on Saturday morning - leaving Kelvedon at 9am - High Tide is at 12.30 so need to be on Mersea by about 11.45 latest.

Also looking for a volunteer(s) to run the first control - could be a relay of riders or someone willing to sit there between 10.03 and 11.10 (assuming starts at 9.30 and 10.00 and a bit of help with cards at the start and finish.

The official date is no longer possible for me, so Saturday would be good. Is there a gpx route?

On the Auk event page (I'll add it to the ACME RWGPS account this morning if that helps)

Here's a fettled version of the AUK route, the lack of GPX points means that there is more than a few ways to navigate through Colchester which isn't ideal!

I think I've captured the intended path!

I will swap the GPX on the AUK website for an as ridden version anyway.

I know the route through Colchester anyway.

Leaving 9am from the Railway Tavern.

See you tomorrow on whatever bike I can have operational by then.
