2024 is already shaping up to be rather good for TV drama. +1 another one for Mr Bates (as fury-inducing as it was), The Tourist, and just catching up with Truelove (amazing cast given material worthy of them).

Just started Boat Story (BBC). Very good so far. If you liked The Following Events... and We Hunt Together you'll probably like this.

I'm up to ep 3 and it just gets better and better.

So far it rivals Killing Eve

Haven't got round to Boat Story yet but I did like the look of it. It's made by the same people who made The Tourist, which I very much enjoyed (though I've not started on the second series yet).

I thought The Following Events... was really terrible, though, and what I saw of Killing Eve vicariously through Gogglebox was enough to put me off.  ;D

Never even heard of We Hunt Together.

Despite what I said about the first series last year, I'm totally hooked on the current series of The Traitors. I think my opinion of the first series was coloured by coming in to it quite late and not knowing who the characters were. You need to be with it from the start - which I was with this series as a colleague was in it. I generally hate this kind of "reality" show, but I love the format of this one, and Claudia Winkleman is perfect as the host.

I would not really compare (at least the early series) of Killing Eve with The Following Events. IMO TFE was not in the same league at all.
Do not clench. It only makes it worse.

Completely agree - Killing Eve was a classic case of shark-jumping; TFE knew when to stop.

I did say the early series. And TFE clearly left the ending open for another series.

Go on then - which of the contestants was your colleague?

We've just finished binging Those Who Kill

3 seasons of scandi noir.

V good. Notable in that the characters are fairly rounded. Even murderers can be likable.

We've been watching the second Aussie series over the weekend. There's a Harry-like figure in that one too but he's even bigger bellend.

Just watched the first episode of The Tourist.

Very tense.

I didn't enjoy the second series as much as the first - the contrast between the violence and the comedy feels a bit jarring at times, and the ending is a bit unsatisfying. It's still very good though.

Evidently I have to watch The Tourist. Very tense about this, as I've been a tourist, and it hasn't always ended well.

Friday, 23:35, p BBC2, the final season of “How To with John Wilson” If you’ve not seen it before, do a search for the scaffolding episode, which I think was season 2.

Looks like it will be a good one with that lineup. Mind you, IMHO, there hasn't been a duff one yet.

Watched Allo Allo the other night, the one where Rene is lowering a string of sausages down the drain cover , from inside his trouser leg, to feed ‘those stupid British airmen’ stuck in the drain system. Oh that made I larf.
