Title: Shimergo
Post by: RogerT on 17 April, 2008, 02:08:46 pm
Any one know if this combination will work..

Campag Veloce 10 speed ergo power levers ( Not QS )
Shimano Tiagra rear mech
Campag record 10 Speed cassette.

The reason I ask is that I currently have a "shimergo" conversion but I have been ofered some very nice Campag equiped wheels.

No, that combo won't index properly without some change or tweak somewhere.

I would get a Campag rear mech (any 10-speed one), but you can look into alternative solutions described here: www.ctc.org.uk/desktopdefault.aspx?tabid=3946

You can either get a Campag rear mech (cheapest about £20) or use a Shimano 8 or 9 speed cassette (cheapest £15ish).  I suppose it depends on how may gears you want.  Oh, you'll need to think about the chain as well.

A Shimano cassette won't go on the wheel (asuming a Campag-compatible hub).  A special alternative Shimano-spaced cassette could, but it wouldn't be better or cheaper than a new mech.

Ahh bigsy, I never even thought about the hub.  You can get shimano compatible hub which fir on campag hubs but they're not cheap.  Therefore, buying a campag rear mech will be the most economical way forward
