Crinkly, we did an audax today and went over several bridges, but Pingu wouldn't get his camera out (and I didn't take mine cos of the dire weather forecast). Sorry :(
Here's one otherdave and I crossed in Pitochry today on the same audax(not our pic).

And a close up of the notice:

I didn't see the notice - honest guv.  Ok, we did cycle, but we certainly didn't swing.  :-X
It's a bit weird, but actually quite wonderful.

We took a few bridge photos today.  Might take a while to upload, but it should be worth the wait :)

Awwwh, where's that? I love it!  :D

It's a good'un, isn't it?  That's on my Friday commute, that is.

And I got a new 'bridge of the day' again, which I suspect may have involved yet another paddling trip for boab (no longer of this parish :()
<---------

So much bridge-y loveliness in here :D

Is that the one with the concrete society award plaque?  It's been a while...

Zeebrugge, over the lock that connects the docks to the sea.
There are two pairs, so when one's open the traffic can go over the other end of the lock.

A rare example of a Sustrans route feature designed with recumbents in mind on NCN1 at Coppermill Lane

However, the bridge across the cut there is a total 'mare for recumbents.  Once the polis closed the A503 between Tottenham Hale & Blackhorse Road, meaning I had the choice between a long diversion up to the A406 or going down the towpath, over the cut and under that ^^^^.  I nearly gave up trying to lift the Speedmachine over the barrier on the footbridge.

The juxtaposition of those last two is particularly delicious, somehow :)

Okay, what these ones lack in impressiveness they make up for by being shiny and new.  Even the graffiti is fresh...

Regular readers of the rant thread will be aware that Mr Prosser from the council and his fearless (and apparently sleepless) team of Vogon contractors have been building a bypass round Silly Oak.  The eventual aim is to reduce congestion on the Bristol Road by a cunning scheme of frustrating drivers into using alternative means of transport with an endless programme of road closures and diversions.  Or something.

As well as culverting the Bournebrook, demolishing Tescos (it respawned) and extensive mucking about with traffic lights, this has involved the construction of a new railway bridge:

And even more excitingly, an aqueduct for the Birmingham and Worcester Canal, which they managed to molish without draining anything, but with the aid of an awesome temporary hydraulic raising access bridge. (Since the resurfacing of the Edgbaston Tunnel, this is now a reasonable fair-weather cycling route to the Gastric Basin in the centre of town.):

There are also a several of shared-use paths, complete with nice fresh broken glass, allowing you to have fun playing signpost slalom before spending ages waiting at toucan crossings and repairing punctures - which I expect will be a popular alternative to getting mown down by irate taxi drivers on the approach to roundabouts for the local cyclists.

(That's Birmingham University's infamous Cocktower (AKA 'Old Joe') in the background)

Bah.  Had I but known that you were going to post this, I could've photo'd the aqueduct from the train when I went over it on Saturday.  Next time...
