Nice. There may be a small peloton, or just me and my long-suffering buddy. We will be joined for at least a few laps by my fiancé and some other friends.

If you start in the dot 8:30 I might be able to squeeze in a lap with you before heading to work. As said this is too stupid to miss.

That's beautifully barking!  Damn, I'm not going to be in town that weekend or I'd have ridden up to bring you some iced PSP or something.

Credit for the concept goes to a yank (Fat Cyclist) though the idea of doing it in Regents Park belongs to the Brits who did it last year.

Wooly - we'll make sure to start at 8:30 sharp.

Ahhh yes you didn't miss us as much as we missed you. Sorry about that!

Anyhoo, here is the graph/route. Not too difficult to guess.

A couple of years ago, on 31st December, I was 14 miles short of my annual target. I'd been out for an exhausting CTC ride, intending to do the 58 or so miles needed, but no-one had wanted to go on to the scheduled pub - there was a really strong headwind. I struggled home from the ride absolutely washed up - it was all I could do to keep up 5 mph into the wind in the last mile.

However, at 9.45pm I felt ready to get on my bike again. I wasn't too keen to mix it with the piss-heads, so I decided just to ride round the block until I'd reached my target - 28 laps.

It was really mind-numbing - two short 1-way streets with a little bit of connecting 2-way, parked cars on both sides, mostly just room for one vehicle. After about 10 laps, some teenage girls having a party at one of their houses became aware that this nutter kept on cycling past. From that point on, they would wave and cheer every time I went by - each lap would have taken me about 3 minutes.

When I got to the last lap, just to be different, I cycled the wrong way round the 1-way streets - but I reached my 6000 mile target for the year.

I fancy doing one of these as a training ride, doing loops round a hill near here.

2 possibilities are about 50 laps of a small loop (Gmaps Pedometer) or about 20 laps of a longer one (Gmaps Pedometer), both with about 2500m of climbing in total.  The shorter loop has the steepest bits and there's more freewheel time on the long loop, so am leaning that way at the mo...

Anyone fancy joining me? ;)

I've always wanted to spend a day doing 19 laps of Richmond Park (202km).

This reminds me of when I was about 10 or11 years old and got a second hand singlespeed roadster. It weighed a ton! But I was so pleased to have a bike and wanted to go for a ride. Unfortunately my mum and dad wouldn't let me go as far as the end of the short street I lived in, especially as I was on an unfamiliar and untested bike.
I rode 21 miles (I had one of them click-click mechanical mileage measuring devices). Round and round in f*^king circles. ;D
My parents kept peeking through the net curtains to see that I was still at it! I'm not sure who I drove the most crackers, me or my parents, but I was allowed to go a bit further afield after that. :smug:

Anybody near Southend has to do a ride like this.

https://yacf.co.uk/forum/index.php?topic=31115.msg869714#msg869714

All exits of the Cuckoo Corner roundabout have "Cycling Prohibited" signs.  If you enter it from Manners Way you can get onto the roundabout and then it is illegal to leave it so you have to just ride round and round and round and round and...

Hmm, could plausibly be up for that.  Don't expect me to be fast, though!

IIRC, many years ago there was a guy cycling around the world in his living room.  He'd plotted a route and distances/day and would ride on his Turbo/excercise bike the alloted distance each day.  This made the news when the Iraq war broke as he had to divert to avoid the conflict!
