Recording video files
« on: 08 September, 2017, 06:28:46 pm »
I have bought a GoPro camera attached to a custom head mount, etc for recording surgical procedures.

There is a wireless transmitter and receiver to get the full 4K 1080p data out of the GoPro, (not the app).

What I am looking for is how to keep that data.  The company do offer a SSD video recorder but it is very expensive!

What options would you suggest?  I am looking for the ability to store 30-40 hours of data at a time before archiving.

Thank you

Chris S

USB Hard Drive? Or maybe you don't want to involve a third party device?

That's a lot of data. Do you mean 4K or 1080p?

What is the output of the wireless thingy - what could it save to?

Plus you'll need to set up some way of powering the GoPro, as the internal battery doesn't last long.
It is simpler than it looks.

The GoPro power is fully sorted.

The output from the wireless link includes HDMI but I am not certain what other outputs are available.

Look at something like the Atomos Ninja.
It can record from HDMI. Though not exactly cheap, especially if you need to add extra hard drives etc.
