Fats Domino dies aged 89

Thought he'd died ages ago but turns out that was Fats Waller.  One should always strive not to get one's Fats wrong.

Thought he'd died ages ago

Funnily enough, his name came up recently on another thread in a discussion about people we were surprised were still alive.

Within our family the thing that;s said when someone famous dies is 'guess who can't play chess any more?'

Mrs W arrived home this evening and I said 'variation on a theme, guess who can't play dominoes any more - she didn't get it!

Surprised here, too, but the article says he was born in 1928 so it's not all that surprising.

In The Legend of 1900 the piano duel is between 1900 and Jelly Roll Morton, but the actor they got for Morton looks like Fats, which accounts for some of my surprise.
