The Aces High C-47A was due to fly at this weekend's Duxford Air Festival.
I was by the airport on Alderney a couple of weeks ago when the BBMF Dakota did a low pass along the runway. It was the anniversary of the liberation of the Channel Islands (but Alderney was a week later) and they were on the way home after a flypast on Guernsey and Jersey.
As a Lincolnshireman, (actually a fully-qualified Yellerbelly) I have the BBMF in my DNA, even though I was born 9 years after the ending of WW2. Not seen the Dak before in the air, but seen City of Lincoln (the Lancaster) a few times. Always magic to hear the BBMF, then see them. Saw CoL and Vera (The Canadian Lancaster) flying together a few years ago too. Hairs on the back of the neck time. Lest we forget the 55,573...
