The Jump - aka Celebrity Ski Injuries
« on: 08 February, 2016, 10:42:30 am »
Amazing amount of injuries considering just how awful the show is and just how little jeopardy it generates.

Davina McCall working her little cotton socks off trying to make it interesting but, ultimately, it's a bunch of B-list celebs toppling over on snow.

Beth Tweddle, 30, who retired from gymnastics in 2013, hit a barrier on landing and has quit the show.

A family statement read: "Beth had a fall on the slopes whilst in training for The Jump. She is stable and due to undergo routine surgery on her back."

Fellow Olympian Rebecca Adlington has also withdrawn because of injury.

Adlington, 26, who won two swimming golds for Britain at the 2008 Olympics, suffered a shoulder injury and said she was "so sad to be leaving".

Holby City actress Tina Hobley, 44, also pulled out of the show after dislocating her elbow and suffering two fractures to her arm.

"Routine surgery on her back"?  Is there such a thing?  That's like someone telling me "don't worry, it's just routine surgery on your penis".
Some people say I'm self-obsessed but that's enough about them.

The thing they were doing last night looked frickin' lethal.  Hope they all remembered their EHICs.

I haven't seen it, so am unable to offer some patronising comment. Seems to me, people are really scraping the tele-visual barrel when it comes to programme ideas.

"What haven't we covered yet!!?"

"Vets in Space?"

"Been done old chap."

"Blast."
Certainly never seen cycling south of Sussex

I saw this article in the news yesterday: http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/gymnastics/35516231

Note the complete absence of any explanation as to what The Jump actually involves.

I'm guessing ski jumping, on the basis of the photo, but it's surely too much to hope that they're pushing random celebrities off those ramps that Eddie The Eagle used to crash land from... are they?

Reading the latest bbc article on this, 3 more are injured or were unable to perform live because of injury.

Linford Christie , Sid "WICKYYY!' Owen and another one who makes Wiccky! look A list.

Rather reminds of a late late 80s TV show    Get if off air now- clearly risk assessment was not their forte.
It's a reverse Elvis thing.

Bliimey it doesn't even stop there - apparently this has happened in previous series!

(I've never heard of this before - guess it'll get more viewers now...? )

I watched The Jump first time round... and found it rather lacking. However I was then also a bit amazed at how many people were  injured - and how much the barrel was scraped for celebrities. Sinitta??

Mind you, Sir Steve Redgrave came across very well in it. And did very well at the Bobsleigh as he used to be a bobsleigher before decided to become a rower.

Mind you, Sir Steve Redgrave came across very well in it.

From the last series...
The five-time gold medallist, Steve Redgrave, has made the emotional decision to pull out of tonight’s final after a series of training injuries, including breaking a bone in his hand.

..and

It remains unclear whether comedian Marcus Brigstocke while be taking part in the live ski jump finale in Austria this evening, as his knee is currently strapped up in a splint.

The comedian is said to have "popped" his knee as he tackled the jump

Messenger suffered minor concussion while bobsleigh training and Conway also broke a bone in his hand during the men’s skeleton.

Flash Gordon star Sam Jones was out before the series even began after injuring his shoulder celebrating a successful jump in training

I suppose you can't criticise the Producers for a celebration injury.

I've never seen this and have no intention of starting to watch but, given the toll of injuries, the news that they have now drafted in Heather Mills to take part has to be encouraging.  :demon:
Why should anybody steal a watch when they can steal a bicycle?

I can't imagine her prosthetist would be too happy about her ski-jumping.

What are the chances that they'll let you nominate celebrities to be on this?

Jeremy Clarkson anyone?

Katie Hopkins?

If they can be sufficiently injured to be put on a ventilator for the forseeable, and therefore made to shut up, I'm all in favour.
Milk please, no sugar.

Mark-Francis Vandelli from Made in Chelsea has left Channel 4 series the Jump after fracturing his ankle.
The 26-year-old is the fourth celebrity to drop out of the competition because of an injury.

I think Davina McCall may be last person standing. Watch your step Davina.

Joe Swash (Eastenders Actor) steps in to replace injured Beth Tweddle... and promptly break his shoulder.

Ben Cohen is flying out to make up the numbers .....watch this space.

This is great. Can we send all the time-wasting, reality show C-listers out there?
