I was expecting something more Pratchett-esque.

Lassie on the train from Paris to Quimper couldn't keep quiet about the kilo of heroin she was carrying.  Unfortunately, one of the people within earshot was a gendarme.

Turned out she hadn't paid for her ticket either.

I've dusted off all those old bottles and set them up straight

Tennessee bans chemtrails

I keep seeing that reported as such.  Seems to me more like Tennessee[1] is banning geoengineering / cloud seeding.  (I couldn't read the actual text of the bill, because they blocked up the state intertubes serving ABROAD.)  Which is more "someone who isn't good at maths read a KSR novel" or "vastly overestimating the importance of Tennessee" than banning chemtrails, which - as any conspiraloon will tell you - are about mind control, not manipulating the albedo.

Chucking stuff into the upper atmosphere to cool things down seems increasingly plausible as a thing that someone[2] with a sufficiency of  a) climate desperation  and  b) shiny metal birbs  will attempt at some point.  And if they do, they're probably not going to do it from Tennessee anyway.

[1] I hadn't appreciated how difficult this state was to spell.
[2] Think India, or Elon Musk.

As reported, it would seem to me that crop dusting would be banned by that bill as it does not say upper atmosphere, but just atmosphere. But as Kim points out, there’s no linky to the actual bill to check out the detail so there’s a possibility that it’s just bad or salacious reporting.
For every complex problem in the world, there is a simple and easily understood solution that’s wrong.

There's a persistent (and possibly true) urban legend that the Lynmouth floods were caused by the RAF cloud seeding.
