A fancy cargo e-bike

lugging all the gear for climbing, morris dancing, and running plus work stuff was screwing my knees up so I had pretty much stopped cycling. I've been after a cargo bike for a while and the right deal, plus share bonus scheme came together and this arrived on Thursday morning.

D.

Oooh, nice!  :D

Is that cargo-tastic chainring made of a *new*[1] 10p with some teeth filed into it, or is it just a perspective thing?

Isn't there a kind of irony there?

I didn't buy cycling stuff.

Oh no.

I just spent a small fortune on a paddle instead. You could buy a bike for the money I've just spent on a tube connecting two curved bits of plastic (ok, carbon fibre blades with carbon fibre and kevlar composite shaft). Only a cheap bike, mind, but still . . .

An "out front" mount for my Garmin. And some new tubeless rim tape, the last batch having become distinctly un-sticky.

Ryde Andra 321 rims and some Deore hubs. Spokes are on their way from Spa, then (assuming I measured everything correctly) i can get cracking with my first wheel build.

Bought a new panaracer gravel king SK as I chickened out from trying to mount my repaired one tubelessly for Paris-Roubaix (pinch puncture hell). I'm also going to pay a (very very good) local bike shop to do the conversion process as I've got a heap of coursework to do before I set off for France on Thursday.

started gathering bits to resurrect the crash damaged Cruzbike, had enough of waiting for the police decision followed by the legal wrangles, want to get back to riding lying down again.

So, 3 x chains for the M5 - which will get that mobile again in the meantime

For the Cruzbike
- Bar end shifters - left one completely mangle, but they come as a pair
- brake levers - right one damaged, same deal as above
- bar tape
- new front dyno light - lens scratched and no replacement found.

Plus a couple of other odds and sods while I was on the web

Need to get on to Cruzbike for their bits next - fork, chainstay, handlebars and clamp, seatpan

The good news is that after enough crashes, dangly bike spaces, etc, these start to average out.

That's my assumption too, the others will be bagged as spares. TBH, the RH brake lever is only cosmetic damage, but what the heck - it was perfect when I set out on the ride and before someone drove over me

A BloodyHellHowMuch-worth of Orange Cardboard™, for various FNRttCs and so on.

Now watch me break a bone or have all my bikes destroyed in a freak wallpapering accident or something...

An 8 speed cassette and chain, because the novelty of friction shifting 7 speed has worn off and impending panniers + Scotland means a range that goes lower seems like a good idea.

Tried to buy some more comfy shoes.
Failed.

Spent 3! hours trying to decide which new pedals to buy in case that fixes the sore feet problem. Will be a lot cheaper than the carbon soled shoes I've been looking at if it works...

Sort of towards the outside (think around 4th toe) on the sole. After a long ride it feels like I've been riding with a pencil in my shoe. I'm pretty sure my feet tilt down in that direction off the pedals. Not at the toes tho, the ball, but not the ball. IYSWIM.

And now I'm reading all about varus wedges....
I'll see how I get on with the new (single sided) SPD pedals. If I hate them and fall off a lot I might try a bit of wedging.

When I got running shoes the shop offered a custom insole and videoing to see how they changed things. I didn’t feel any benefit, Mrs Dan found they really felt much better.

Many years ago we decided that Pingu can wear anything (shorts, saddles, shoes, ski boots) whereas I am the Princess and the Pea.
