Is this just clickbait to send me malware?
« on: 07 February, 2017, 03:16:27 pm »
Mystery email this morning thanking me for my order, and inviting me to click a link to see more details of the order.........which I didn't make.  No company name in the message, no suspicious activity on my bank or credit card.  Remarkably though they had my correct name, email, phone number, and house address.

The email was reported to be from confirmation@killianautoservice.com and the link in the message pointed to http://carolinecullinane.com/protected/confirm-user-reservation-06022017-verified-JSY603OZJ1V.doc

I googled both of these domain names without getting any meaningful results, and wonder if it is all designed to lead me to a .doc file infected with something nasty.

I thought this might by of interest to the forensically-inclined of this parish.

There are many varieties of plausible email with dodgy attachment:  deliveries, invoices, over-payments, etc.  Train your spam box to receive them.
