Four pages about riffs, and no mention of Status Quo or Hawkwind, or this.

        - The Cult - She Sells Sanctuary (Official Music Video) + Lyrics (HQ)

Well, if you want Hawkwind then I'll nominate the versions of "Born To Go" and "Valium 10" off the Space Ritual album.

Ahem!  Cough cough ;D

Whole lotta love - Led Zep  + loads others
Alright now  - Free
Born to be Wild - Steppenwolf
She sells Sanctuary - the Cult
Layla - clapton
Sunshine of your love - Cream
Are you gonna go my way - Lenny kravitz
Satisfaction - Rolling Stones + loads of others
Blue Orchid - White Stripes

Could come up with hundreds more if I thought about it

I really must pay more attention.
A very unusual riff, played on the bass.

Teaser - Tommy Bolin
Rock Candy - Montrose
Lay It Down - Ratt
Wild Side - Motley Crue
Warrior - Wishbone Ash
All Shook Out - Monster Magnet
She Builds Quick Machines - Velvet Revolver
Ghost - Slash featuring Ian Astbury

And a couple by Magnum - a much-under-rated band IMHO:

Two songs that I'm enjoying a lot at the moment:

Raining Blood (Slayer) is packed full of riffs - trying to learn that song at the moment
Black Sabbath - Supernaut

Queen - Hammer to Fall.

No apologies if it's already been mentioned.  If not, why not?

The whole "Reign In Blood" album is packed full of premier-league riffage, but for me the middle-eight of "Angel Of Death" takes some beating. Given the number of times I've heard it sampled I'm obviously not the only one who thinks that :)

In fact, I think I'm going to listen to "Reign In Blood" right now ...

I take your Supernaut and I give you Sabbath Bloody Sabbath. Now, THAT is riffing! Especially from 3.15

Anthrax did a bloody good cover of Sabbath Bloody Sabbath quite a few years ago - it's one of those rare covers that not only does full justice to the original but also manages to be multiple times heavier too.

The bass in Bowie's The Man Who Sold The World.

With you on this and especially when the guitar doubles it.  The intro riff has to be one of the great instantly-recognisable ones, too.

While we are on bass, check "Hotel California":  pretty much all in 5 chord shapes and just great timing.

I'll agree with both.  Funnily enough, I was listening to SAHB earlier, but Anthem, Vambo & a couple of others...
