Hi Everyone,
Is anyone aware of a Cycle to Work Scheme for students in either Universities or Colleges? Any information would be gratefully received.
Thanks
Lou

If you are talking about the standard cycle to work schemes, then no: these involve a salary sacrifice to save money by not paying income tax. As students generally don't have a salary or pay income tax then there is no saving to be made. It would be *possible* to also save VAT under these schemes, but virtually none of the schemes I've ever seen* actually pass on this saving, they use it to help cover their costs.
There are various things advertised as cycle-to-campus or similar, but they are just retailer student discounts.
* apart from micro-companies operating the scheme themselves.

Thanks for that. I guess that a discount is what the students are looking for.
Best wishes,
Lou

Worth checking whether any local bike shops (or the national chains) offer an NUS discount?
-
Thanks, I will do. I asked the SU but no-one got back to me.

The NUS TOTUM card gives the following discounts:
10% Cycle Surgery
10% Insync Bikes
So not a lot there really.

Oooh thank you.

If you're looking for options for your own university, your best bet might well be to ring your local bike shops directly and ask if they do a student package at the start of the year. I know a couple of ours do/did.

University of York Cycling Club (UYCC) members currently get a 10% discount at Cycle Heaven and (I think!) also at Fulford Cycles, but that *may* be out of date, or I'm thinking of the Clifton CC membership discount, unless that's York Cycleworks! ;)
I've just taken my medication, can you tell?? :-*

Yeah, and I'm pretty sure GetCycling and possibly CH have put together student bike deals available to all students, not just UYCC members, and hawked them on campus during exhibition days.
-
Aye, as well as the bike recycling people, whoever they are nowadays!

Cheers
