Putting together either takes moments or requires leaving the bike where it is, walking off and coming back ten minutes later and trying again!
Important to grease the fittings well each time you do use the couplings.

Never had a problem putting our solo S&S bikes together.

We use the S&S-recommended teflon grease, about once a year. It is much better at preventing galling than standard greases, due to a much higher teflon content. I tried to strip the thread on a small diameter stainless bolt/nut greased with this and it was nearly impossible, unlike on the identical ungreased bolt/nut or the normally greased bolt/nut (somewhat more difficult).
Wheel meet again, don't know where, don't know when...
