AUK points

Does PBP get picked up automagically by the AUK system, or do you need to make a claim?
Or does some dedicated soul trawl through the results manually data-mining for AUK members?

I kind of assumed it was automatic, but looking at my Inscription, I don't see any AUK membership number; just my local club affiliation.

I don't think it's automated as such, but the Recorder normally does a damn fine job of picking up AUK members and attributing points once ACP has published their first pass at a finishers list.

Start worrying once other folk have points and you haven't ... (But NB that if you have a hors délai finish, potentially subject to mitigating circumstances, you'll need to wait until these have been manually adjusted by ACP. That'll be in about January ...)

How does it work if you're using PBP towards your RRTY?

Never had to claim any of my pbp rides before. They have just turned up at somepoint and when it does it wil have a date by it, so any rrty will be fine too.

Our recorder man is very good at this. So just wait give the man some time and all will be  fine .

Adding the PBP points into AUK's results used to be simple enough because all UK PBP entries were routed through AUK, so the 'entry list' data was already there.
Since PBP went to online entry (bypassing AUK) then AUK effectively have no knowledge of which members even entered the event, and are reliant on the eventual publication of a finish list, hopefully a near-final one (not merely provisional).
Even then there is no common data between the PBP lists of names/nationalities and AUK's results which is dependent on membership numbers - so getting from one to the other is a big job and getting bigger every time.  No doubt it will happen but it won't be instant.

How will this effect points totals for the year? ISTR there's points awards and the like calculated based on the Audax year, and yet if PBP results aren't out until January, they are going to be missing...

I'm guessing the recorder has a busy month ahead of them catching up on the big back log of overseas events to add before the end of the Audax year...

How will this effect points totals for the year?

Points "Leader" by a mile is Colin N, but has too many DIYs so is only on 98 points and didn't ride PBP
Lee K is currently on 169 points and finished PBP in time
Next nearest is Aidan H on 148 and also finished PBP in time
Ivor P isn't too far behind Aidan, on 133, also appears to have finished PBP in time, but not a trike rider so not troubling Aidan on that front!

Opposite Sex prize, Anne Y is on 128 points and also finished PBP in time; I can't see anyone close to her.
No idea on tandems

So it's not looking like the 12 points for PBP will make much of a difference unless Lee didn't finish in time and Aidan gets a few more rides in than Lee this month.

As far as I can tell from looking at old forum posts, sometime in september with official results in january. I dont know which of these is required for the results to go on auk or for claiming acp awards 5000 or 10000. Apparently the acp claim forms need to be submitted in October.

When has a provisional list been made available in previous years?

It has varied a lot - I remember after one PBP there was an Excel list doing the rounds after less than a week.  But that was exceptional.  The problem is 'provisional' isn't really good enough - because the implication of that is that there will be an update later, which is likely to involve a substantial amount of work again (trawling through the list, have we already got that name on our list or is it new, etc etc - it just doubles the work), remembering there isn't a straightforward way to simply import the data.

After recent PBPs -
2007 - the bulk of finishers were added to AUK's results 7th October, with a few added months later
2011 - it was 3rd November.
2015 - looks like it was late January '16.
Sometime around early November is when the results year (PBP aside) gets finalised (AUK re-union and awards set for Nov 16th).

Things appeared on the AUK site *much* earlier than that - September seems about right - and were then revised in Jan.

(I remember because I wasn't on the first list of finishers, having completed with a >90hr chip time, but did appear on the final list once they'd given credit for the 2 hour pause noted in my brevet card.)

I’m presuming the answer is no as it is not an AUK event, but can PBP count towards the Super Randonneur 2500 (so full SR series plus the 1200 instead of a 1000)

Re: AUK points
« Reply #14 on: 03 September, 2019, 06:50:42 pm »
Why not? I’m sure I got SR2500 with the Cascades 1200, a US event last year.

Any overseas event homologated by ACP, or LRM, should be recognised by AUK. ACP events will be BRM events.

Where this gets confusing is a lot of UK events are just BR, they are only homologated by AUK, and thus not recognised by overseas audax groups (Dutch Randonneurs won't recognise an AUK BR ride for RRtY :( )

With AUK, you can always substitute a longer rider for a shorter too.

Everyone who completed PBP, should be able to claim the AUK SR2500.

PBP is a bit of a special case, but for all other overseas BRM or LRM events, send your proof of completion (Either your returned brevet card, or the homologation info from the organiser) to recorder@. Note there is quite a long wait for this to be processed.

The awards page reads "Add a 1000 km ride to your Super Randonneur series and you'll be a Randonneur 2500."

Taken literally, adding a 1200km like PBP would not get you a SR2500. But I can confirm, based on seeing my name on the 2017 list when I didn't ride a 1000km but did ride LEL, it does.

I believe the ACP 5000 and 10k awards are to be taken literally: 1000km and no substitution with a longer ride.

Yes, but it is worded differently in the English language version at least "the full series of ACP Brevets: 200, 300, 400, 600, 1000 km"
Further to that after describing how to get your Kilometric balance up to 5000; "To in no case these Brevets cannot replace the B.R.M. of 1000km."

For the 10000 it's worded differently again
"2 full series of ACP brevets (200, 300, 400, 600 and 1000 km) - Longer brevets cannot be substituted for shorter ones"
and "No Brevet can be substituted for another."

the meanings of course work out the same.

For AUK, unless explicitly stated otherwise, you can always replace shorter with longer.

ACP as, stated by FifeingEejit are a lot more strict about it. You *WILL* do a 200, 300, 400, 600, and a 1000km, You *WILL NOT* do 5x 1000km.

The interesting thing about the ACP's definition of a series of rides for R10000 is that they do not require the 200, 300, 400, 600 Super Randonneur series to all be completed within the same season, as you might expect. I specifically asked about that question.

As FF points out upthread there's no linkage between PBP and AUK so comparing the list of finishers (which is still not official) with the list of AUK members who are known to have qualified is "not straightforward", and whatever we do there are bound to be some errors & omissions.

That said, having spent some time rubbing spreadsheets together, below is the list of AUK member numbers that I show as successfully completing PBP.

If you finished within time and your member number does not appear in this list please email me
Similarly if your member number does appear in this list and you were a DNF (or DNS or DNE) please email me

Email address: recorder@audax.uk      & put "PBP results list" in the subject line.
