Tilbury - riverside route
« on: 11 December, 2017, 10:18:47 am »
The Thurrock Council cycle map shows a sort-of cycle route along the riverside from Tilbury Fort to the Coalhurst Fort, marked in the key as "walk your bike". Has anyone been on that section recently?

yep!, 1 month ago it is perfectly ride able, but the section between the power station and the Tilbury fort (well the bit I rode on) was  at the  bottom of the wall, so is only rideable when the tide is out,  there must be a route 'behind the powerstation and and sewage works. the lower track ends abruptly, and you'll have to climb the steel staircase just after the sewage works, (coming from coalhouse fort end).
Look out for where the bank has collapsed, an hundreds of Victorian  earthen ware jars and bottles re uncovered. Take a bag for somefreebees, but also take gloves, coz its downsteam of the poo works.

Not recently; but one can follow the Thames rather closely.  See my ride report: Shoeburyness - London: the less sensible way.
;D  Andrij.  I pronounce you Complete and Utter GIT
