Given the subzero temperatures predicted for Wednesday evening I will be staying in to wash my hair.

Having had nothing but slush on the lanes this week, I was looking forward to some proper frozen stuff for the ice tyres to get to grips with. :(  Still, I may yet get to do my first Audax on them this weekend, if the Willy Warmer isn't cancelled....but then I could always do a permanent....

Slippy ("What's that Slippy? A helicopter crash?") joined the Witham Cycling Facebook group. The rest is history. No public toilets or parks were involved!
Was that a prophetic insight  :-\

Does anyone fancy a spin on Wednesday evening?

I got CAMRA's Good Beer Guide for Christmas.  I have decided to visit every Essex pub featured, as you might suspect I have visited quite a few already.  Coggeshall's Chapel Inn looks like a good target.  I have in mind taking a route clockwise round Braintree crossing A120 at Rayne so could potentially meet up with the Leigh's and Great Dunmow crowd.

Any thoughts?

I'm planning on biking home from Shenfiled on Wednesday so may meet you there if I do.

That would be good.  Provisionally I'm hoping to leave Witham at about 1915 so should be at the pub between 2100 and 2130 (ish).

Lunch time was usefully spent by producing a proposed route for Wednesday evening.  The pub looks quite good, the history section of their website is particularly interesting.

I'm up for prayers at the Chapel Inn, subject to bits of road not being flooded!
Anyone know the wetness state of Ulting area?

We were out yesterday and providing you keep away from fords you should be OK.  There might be some floods to ride through though.  We had to paddle round the edge of one ford that was 4 foot deep, another we had to divert round as even the footbridge was under water.

My plan on Wednesday is to get a train from that London about 6.30, off at Shenfield and then 60km back towards Witham so should hit Coggeshall about 9.30ish.

Top banana.  I'm hoping that Huggy will ride with me if he can escape nursing duties and his hacking cough.

Profits in the form of Brownie Points and maybe ride passes from nursing duties are being accrued for future cashing in.
And as for working for an insurance company all I can say is that compensate me for my IT skilz  ::-)

Tom, we're going clockwise so Silver End will be on the way home. If you didn't want to come to Witham we could meet you at Rayne perhaps?

@OD - probably best if you DON'T assume an average speed of 38mph.
You are in a maze of twisty flat droves, all alike.
