In all seriousness would people like me to tweak the routes to incorporate a climb of TMNH first and then a trundle down the Flitch?

Hardly a valid reason dear chap  ;D

Only becomes a valid reason when it prevents the rear wheel turning round  :'(
Extra resistance training  :P

We are of course joshing here DL and appreciate your enthusiasm for route fettling, however we have clearly not appraised you of the Oaky/Huggy rule book of MEMWNS which has 3 rules:

1. All routes out of Witham must go via TMNH
1a. Extra points for it being in totally the opposite direction of the refreshment destination
2. No forward planning
3. All rules to be obeyed at all times (except when we ignore them)

I should be there this week.  I'm happy to go either via TMNH or not, as per the routmeister / concensus...

I will probably bypass any sections of the Flitch way, though.
You are in a maze of twisty flat droves, all alike.

Yes very true better than any turbo trainer or rollers......

I knew (hoped) you were only pulling my leg, I was aware of Rule 1, not 1a) however which I can now see means extra winter miles won't be a problem!

I'm also now fully up to speed with rules 2 & 3

Unless I meet fierce resistence Oaky i'm aiming to stick to my original route, I have noted that the Swan serve ale not sure if they have any from local breweries......

There is in fact a 4th and 5th rule which only Oaky attempts to apply with any degree of strictness ...

4.  Comedy off-roading (COR) will not be tolerated under any circumstances
5.  All road surfaces must be well maintained and completely free of irregularities

Oaky reserves the right to bitch, moan and sulk if anyone breaks rules 4 and 5.  If you want a laugh lure him into some COR or deliberately route him down a lane with decidedly dodgy surface   ;D  Bare in mind he knows this area well and can smell a rubbish surface some distance off.

Of course, I have never been known to do any of the above  O:-)

further rules

6. Great Yarmouth is not an acceptable intermediate route point.
7. Lowestoft isn't either.
8. No publishing one track then allowing your GPS to pick a random variation on the theme of that on the night. (Even though this might confuse any anti-cycling ride saboteurs).

Ah yes, I'd forgotten about those rules, I can see this topic taking on a whole new thread of its own to rival the Velominati  :demon:

Besides, Oaky seems to have become softened with spending so much time on the wrong side of the pond.  Evidence of this assertion being no advance planning alert and not insisting upon going via TMNH!

9. One more for the road, if you will

I'll put a loop in my route to take in your outward-bound route and try to meet up, though I might not get as far as TMNH.....be home before the lights of Dunmow go out though, for a change!

OD, I have attempted to wriggle my way into some drinking on Saturday but I ain't going to make it. December in General for me is a month filled with family events and as usual I have left taking the girls shopping to the last opportunity, lord know I am going to need brownie points come 2015 as well!

That made me spray water over my screen. I'm sure there are several other similar possibilities.

I'll see y'all at the Spa Road Rbt at 7:30.  I've never been to the swan, so am interested to see what it's like.

Circumstances have conspired to allow me out to play this evening
I'm assuming the original direct raid on Felsted route with no time-honoured-diversion to TMNH or excursion along the Flitch Way.  It may actually be a little chilly this evening after the last few weeks of unseasonal warmth.

Although I got away with it last week, both other half and GP have over-ridden rule 5 so I have to stay home on my sick bed.

Another good ride last night to the swan @ felsted it was a bit up market to our normal pubs we go to. The cost of a pint was a shock to some £3.90  :o .Then a nice blast home.
