Spicy tomato, lentil, bean and pasta stew with dollops of hummus and strong cheese. Pudding was peanut butter cake drizzled in chocolate sauce.   :smug:

A Christmas Eve family tradition - in fact, the only one we invented ourselves.

Toad in the hole with peas and onion gravy.

For some reason our family crimble eve dinner is always a gammon joint.  Usually cooked and frozen in early December.
Plus boiled spuds, brocolli and lashings of home made parsley sauce.

Something rather lovely about having a family tradition meal on Christmas Eve.
Admission.  I'm actually not that fussed about cake.

Cold turkey, pork and ham leftovers and potato salad, followed by mangos, pawpaw and cherries (and plum pudding and custard for veloyellow), yum - hopefully accompanied by RAIN!  A little this morning and more forecast which has cooled the maximum today down to 28 - was 35 yesterday.

The Boxing Day everything hotpot: there is at least turkey, bacon, sausage, leek, carrot, red cabbage, onion, sprout, Stilton, brandy, red wine, gravy browning, sausage casserole mix and Lea and Perrin's in there.

Sometimes it's a disaster, sometimes it works.  At the moment it tastes good.
Hard work sometimes pays off in the end, but laziness ALWAYS pays off NOW.

Chunky Ardennes pate & sunflower bread; Parsnip & carrots roasted with red chillies and golden syrup; stuffed olives and pickled garlic cloves; Cheeses with iced/marzipan Christmas cake; all washed down with Hook Norton Double Stout with a Chimay Bleu to round off with.

...all while watching the Black Adder's Christmas Carol.

Leftovers bubble & squeak with fried streaky bacon & sausagemeat-stuffing balls.

The advantage of cooking too much on Christmas day.  ;)

Taco shells with salad and cheese and avocado and salsa and spicy beef with kidney beans for the meat-eaters.  I was s'posed to be having mushrooms cooked with taco seasoning but there was a bouncing-on-the-bed-then-bashing-heads-together incident resulting in some very loud wailing that I had to go and sort out at what turned out to be a crucial moment in the cooking. Cremated mushrooms :(

So I had quorn fillets in taco seasoning with chilli beans instead.  It was OK.  Mushrooms would have been nicer.

And we discovered that the 2 year old likes tacos, so long as he can eat all the bits separately.  And the cat likes his dropped bits of spicy beef and chilli beans, apparently.
