I even hoover the hoover after empting the hoover.  (Vax, actually)

Another grumble: Argos haven't sent me a confirmation email with the number I need.  Been more than an hour.

This saga just proves- you aren't meant to have it Biggsy.

I'm now ordering from Argos, where I can collect without showing any ID at all, regardless of payment method.  They obviously agree that the risk of a thief presenting the code numbers is too slight to bother about.

Are these sent by email?

Given the notorious insecurity of email, I wonder how long this policy will last...

Email and Text IME. Collect+ now doesn't require ID, just the Emailed/Texted collection code either.

Anyway, my grumble.

Trying to book a holiday. Shallot#2 won't go anywhere hot. Not even vaguely warm like mountains & lakes. Tough, you can stay here and feed the cat then.

Email a list of suggestions and dates to Shallots#3 & #4. End with: DYOR and choose.

Shallot#3: "OK"
Shallot#4: "Looks good to me"

So I go to book the flights, it's a day off what I emailed so I thought I'd double-check. Shallot#4 now says he's got a job and can't come. FFS I was within a mouseclick of booking everything, when were you going to tell me???

In the Grumble thread as it doesn't fit anywhere else.

My grumble is about me, I went out last night to see Soulfly @ The Corporation in Sheffield.

It was a good night, lots of moshing and loud music.

Why the flaming heck did I join in the pit? This morning I can hardly move my left hand, and when I do it is painful.  Standing on my left leg is painful, too.  I must have bruised parts when I fell over :(

This saga just proves- you aren't meant to have it Biggsy.

That's what it's feeling like, yes.  Nearly a whole day now with no confirmation email (not even in my spam folder).  Argos have my money, I have nothing, not even an order number.  I'm on to them via Twitter, a bizarre platform for customer services, but they seem to do stuff, eventually.

Wife snowed under with work, Inlaw Paw "has the doctor coming this afternoon", so instead of going for a ride I stay home to interpret.  Four o'clockish the doc has not appeared, so I phone down to the surgery.  "Oh no, it's next Thursday".  Fuck.

I'm disgusted with Argos.  Took my money and gave me nothing, not even an order number.  Customer services not responded at all via email and only asked questions via Twitter.  I'll try a human in bricks & mortar.  Can't face the hell of the telephone call centre.

Should have stuck with John Lewis.  I didn't like all their policies, but at least they were very prompt with a reply and refund.

At last I have a collection number from Argos (via Twitter of all daft places, where they're painfully slow but helpful eventually).

Still more trouble!  Went to store and told the collection number was invalid.  Had to cancel and pay again.

I know we shouldn't mock, but given your fit of pique with John Lewis, this is making me titter slightly.

On the ID to collect things, I had to pick something up from the post office the other day. They wanted ID - passport, driving licence or credit card. They want this for anything where they leave a card, not just signed for. Interestingly they want my ID. They don't care if I lend it to someone else to do the collecting though. Which is bizarrely relaxed given the ID requirements they create for redirecting post.

Sensibly relaxed, I call it.

Ironically, I offered to present more ID (my bank card) to Argos to prove the item was mine, but all they valued was the collection number (that I didn't have correctly).  We are the robots, we're functioning automatic, and we are dancing mechanic.

I wouldn't be surprised if Argos fail to refund my original payment.  (I only have their word that they will, so far).  That'll really get on my titters!

Oh yes, very sensible. As evidenced by the hassle experienced when trying to redirect Mrs Dan's other name, which she uses for professional purposes, not passport, bills etc.

Good luck with the refund.

No ranting this week as it is week 12, so zero energy for anything other than looking like GrumpCat.

Anyways, Shimano, why do you have to be so confusing? There would appear to be no such thing as a R685 brake caliper. R685 only applies to the shifters, the calipers being the same as the R785, which in turn are the same as XT.  This means that any pad that fits the XT and R785 will fit the R685, but I have had to dig around a load of places to find this.

Incidentally the calipers will take G01s, G03 and similar pads.

Bugger.  I'm in a pub, 5 miles from home, and it has started to piss down.
Only five miles?  Yes, but other than spd shoes and mits, I am dressed in civvies.  Non waterproof civvies at that.
*checks rain radar*
Doesn't look good.
*orders unplanned second pint*
This could end badly.
Admission.  I'm actually not that fussed about cake.

For today's little outing, I googled Newcastle Emlyn market day.  Hurrah!  It's Thursday.  Yummy.
So off I trundle.

Bugger.  Should have read in more depth.  Yummy stuffs market is Friday.  Thursday is live stock.
I'm not that hungry.  Well, nearly.  But not quite.

Oh well, nice ride to Lampeter tomorrow.

Not really a grumble. More speculation. In circumstances that could go either way but aren't currently terrible.

Bit of a mouthful for a new thread title, granted.
