Time for a thread - the entries are steadily trickling in, up to about 15 already.

I've added Adamski's .gpx track [many thanks , but the usual disclaimers apply] to the routesheet & info on the AUK website.

I'll contact riders directly for the curry booking nearer the time. That'll be at the 'Mogul' in Manningtree again [fingers crossed!!] on the Friday evening, from 21:00.

My entry will be on its way at the weekend. I'm in for the curry too - always in favour of a wind-assisted ride.
Why should anybody steal a watch when they can steal a bicycle?

Tomsk I am sure that on the Audax website (which seems to be down at the mo) the start time for the ride is listed as 9pm?

I'm in.

I'm undecided on the curry: I would love it, but I would probably hate the effects of it (at 4am).  I guess I need to try it to find out ...
Lockdown lethargy. RRTY: wot's that? Can't remember if I'm on #8 or #9 ...

I was sceptical too, despite the pre-ride curry thing being my fault [originally for 'Hereward the Wake'] but no ill effects from either the meal or the ahem pints of Cobra. I do run well on rice, though - none of that post-pasta bloated feeling and the alcohol I blame on going native on PBP, when you can't get a decent pot of tea, anyway.

Its a long time until breakfast at Burnham Deepdale....

The curry worked well for me too last year and I'll definitely be loading up preride again this year

Tomsk, let me know if you'd like me to be curry secretary again or if you'd prefer to oversee booking yourself given last year's experience

Hmmm - I am being drawn to this ride now.  Might make a big weekend of it with Billy's Surrey Hillier on the Sunday as well.
Right! What's next?

Ooooh. That sounds like a daft idea.  I am in!

I was just about to buy a 22:30 train ticket for Saturday night, then realised this starts 1 minute past midnight on Saturday morning!

Just to double check then - I should buy a late night ticket for Friday night, right?

Yes. Book the 22.30. I'm on that one and there's usually a few of us.

Last year I had breakfast at the Yaxham Waters cafe, having gotten to Burnham before that place opened. The Yaxham Waters cafe is, according to the gpx track, 198 km into the ride, and I got there just as they were opening at 8.30 am. It was a great place to stop and it comes recommended. Quick service (possibly because I was the only person there at that time in the morning), friendly staff, good food, it didn't require getting lost in a town centre & was easy to keep on an eye on the bike. The control in Wymondham is 18 km down the road from Yaxham, from where I just grabbed an ATM receipt (and I doubt the food was as good in the Waitrose cafe). Not that I'll be using the cafe this year because I'm not doing this ride.
What on earth am I doing here on this beautiful day?! This is the only life I've got!!

Where did you find for a receipt in Burnham Market Adamski? I also got to Burnham Deepdale too early for the cafe and pressed on, but then failed to find anywhere open, I've looked on Streetview just now, and realise that I managed to completely miss the main town square / green thing at the church end! I can't even see a cash machine, too posh for that in Burnham..

I'll see the rest of you at Manningtree, no curry for me as I live locally. (poor excuse really)

ISTR the PO was just opening when we got there (Adamski and D.G.E were just ahead of me).

Yeah it was a shop in Burnham Market that had just opened that signed our cards. However the official control was in burnham deepdale, but everything there was totally closed when we arrived. It could be a different story if the wind direction was different as we got blown up to the north Norfolk coast last year.

I was in Deepdale when the garage was just about opening up so picked up a receipt there and breakfasted at the Norfolk Kitchen in Dereham - cheap and cheerful.

I'm in for the curry, are they definitely expecting us this year?  ;)

@rob. Do you have any idea what this train likely to be like re: bikes? As far as I can tell, the intercity to Norwich (which this looks like) is mandatory reservations (limited to 6), but anything else looks OK.
cheers,

cheers,

The website says they're pretty strict, but the reality is different and they don't police very heavily.   There were 3 of us last year.

Little trick - go to the East Coast website and book through there.   There's a bit where you can select a bike reservation when booking tickets on line.
