Hi-Fi shops, Kent
« on: 27 January, 2015, 11:09:50 am »
After 20 years (  :-[ ) faithful service, it appears that my old CD player has finally given up. Apparently it didn't like being stored in the eaves whilst we gutted the attic.

Any ideas who is reputable for HiFis in Kent? To my knowledge, Medway is not blessed with reputable dealers (although I am sure someone in the Jolly Caulkers might be able to supply....)

Depends if you're an audiophile or not I guess. Richer Sounds in Maidstone is one suggestion.

I remember I bought my turntable at Sevenoaks HiFi. I know this was a loooong time ago but I think the co. is still going.

Sevenoaks is still about.

Tbh, I reckon your player just needs a decent clean and it might work again.

Thanks all. Cambridge Audio duly purchased from Richer Sounds in Maidstone. Had a quick listen but had forgotten to take own CD. Bloke in shop asks what I listen to. After much horsetrading over this basic question (and no, they didn't have any stripped-down Italian speedcore) we settle on a classical CD. "What track?" "Oh, Chopin will do" says I. "Right you are, track 4".

It is only once it blasts out the shop that I realise I should have kept the glasses on to read the CD case: it is funny how you can empty a HiFi shop on a Saturday morning with a good dose of "la marche funèbre"...

Oh, you're sorted

I was going to suggest Davies and Eason in Faversham, but they may have been a bit far.
