Yahoo! GeoCities: Get a web site with easy-to-use site building tools.

Well it have been fun. A sad day though I can remember the early days hacking up well copy and pasting a website and upload it to Geocities.

Totally epic.

One day, we'll be saying the same about Facebook.  :)
It takes blood and guts to be this cool but I'm still just a cliché.

I hope so.
Dearly Beloved is agonising over leaving FB which seems to swallow up much of his time to little avail, but he can't yet pull away...

It's easy to help him leave facebook  :demon:

Is he a windows user?  (similar to below  is possible elsewhere, but I don't have the know how).

open c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts. in notepad.  add a line at the end that says

127.0.0.1 www.facebook.com

save the file.  MAKE SURE that you choose "all files" as the file type so that the file is named hosts and not hosts.txt.

Every time he goes to facebook he'll just get "page cannot be displayed"  :demon:

Poor old geocities.  It leaves the internet depleted of Under Construction signs and pictures of cats.  My first site was an HTML 4.0 effort.  It had marquee tags and everything.

For the extra-specially geekily inclined, there's a further joke in today's XKCD makeover - read the source.
