Reminds me of several attempted Ryanair landings at Newquay. Foggy place, Newquay - and not being a Real Airport, it has no instrument capability at all.
Some time after you see the flaps extend, and hear the undercarriage come out - you get yourself ready for the landing. You expect to see the ground out of the window. When there's no ground, and then the engines rev up hard, and the front of the plane points upward, and the captain says "Sorry about that boys and girls, all I could see was the end of the runway appear through the fog", you just know you're headed for Bristol yet again...
These days - I take my bike, and a couple of trains, when I need to go to Cornwall.
