I get cystitis probably two /three /four times a year. I have diverticula in my bladder.
Coffee is a bladder irritant so a definite no.
I'm not convinced that for me drinking more than thirst prompts me to, makes any difference to the frequency / urgency / pain, or to how long it takes to clear.
Sometimes I have symptoms with no causal organisms, and no one wants to take unnecessary antibiotics (because then they'd have thrush, too, or is that just me?), so I'll always give it a couple of days of management before I head to, in this case, the out of hours GP service at the hospital.
That's a fun way to spend time at Christmas. And a rant for elsewhere. The GP expressed surprise that my usual GP didn't have me on permanent low - dose antibiotics, or a repeat prescription for a course of blitzers, to save me bothering them when we all know exactly what's going on. Why indeed.

Partner bought me new fancy digital scales for Christmas.
He is 175cm tall and weighs around 63kg.

Before he dampened his feet, it told him he was 51.5% fat.
With a BMI OF 21 this is BOLLOX!

I've got a bizarre knee pain. When I kneel on my right knee I get feeling like a plaster being pulled off under the skin on the lateral side of the knee joint. Depending on how bent the knee is I can vary the pain, it is worst at 80-90 degrees (where 90 deg is kneeling up and 80 deg is dropping towards a kneeling down position). It doesn't hurt at all when I am kneeling down.

What have I done?

Clare, I'd say that you have hurt yourself.

IGMC

Um, trying to be helpful I'd say that you have pulled/strained some of the incredible network of ligaments in your knee. Rest, Ibuprofen and GWS.

In other news, I've had my head MRI'd. It was interesting.

Oooh, I had that done years ago, it was very loud. See if you can get a copy of any of the images, the ones where it looks like your eyes are bulging out are brilliant.

Could be your ITB. It runs over the outside of the knee.

I did wonder about it being ITB related, it doesn't feel like a pull or strain and doesn't affect movement. I can cause the pain by pressing on the protrusion at the head of the tibia or by kneeling.

Hope your knee is doing better, Clare!

Having tried to book an online GP appointment this morning, I've discovered that our surgery no longer offers this (Drat! This was the best thing about it!) and has changed to a system involving telephone triage called GP Access.  I wonder if it will work?

Given that a lot of my GP appointments tend to be "your computer needs to see me" and could in principle be done remotely, that's not a terrible idea.

Except that requiring people to use telephones and putting the gatekeeper receptionist back in the loop is a terrible idea.

That's reminded me, we need a new GP now we've moved. Looking at the NHS choices website, they *all* seem to have bad reviews, so I may as well pick the closest one and be done with it.

My old GP has actually referred me to herself at KCH as she's also a migraine specialist there, but I've not received a letter yet, probably due to waiting list which she said was a few weeks long. Currently taking two different preventive drugs, plus sumatriptan for when they don't work.

Stiff lower back after 2nd of January squats at the gym. Thought I’d be ok doing the arms & abs workout yesterday but the barbell curls put a lot of strain on my back, I managed 2 and that was that. Was able to do some triceps exercises and some abs stuff (but not the leg raises) after I’d done it. Not sure I’d have been able to cycle home, luckily I’d been lazy and driven.

Now I’m hobbling around like a cripple and wondering if I’ll be in a fit state to get on the motorbike to ride to work tomorrow. I’m not quite as broken as yesterday, so at least it’s improving.

The crown that the Christmas toffee did for has been re-fixed in place, and the SmallestCub wasn't traumatised by the experience of accompanying me.

I spent New Year's Eve learning about intestinal intussusceptions and their treatment. If anyone here is advised to get a colonoscopy for screening purposes, do not put it off.

No, this was more of an experiential learning thing.

ISTR that intusussception was a recent BMJ Endgame.
I suspect educational material sometimes bypasses my brane.
My BMJ log-in has failed recently and probably won't work again until I delete all my cookies, which I don't want to do right now.

My dad had some kind of bowel intussuseption 2 years ago, he was due surgery cos it hadn't resolved but due to faffing he didn't get a final scan for ages and then it suddenly resolved itself days after anyone expected it to... think it took him several weeks to recover properly though.

Mine was not about to resolve itself, I had a CAT scan of the abdominal area at around 6 PM and was in surgery by 9 PM. That was New Year's Eve, I was released from the hospital with a somewhat shortened colon yesterday.

Just had my diabetic eye screening photos taken….. blimey its bright in here today…… and been told that they have found a small number of haemorrhage. They aren’t in my main field of vision, so aren’t causing me any problems.

This is the first time they have found anything wrong with my eyes. The good news is currently there is no risk to my ability to drive or cycle: they would have to be considerably worse than they are before that happens.

Finally got to the dentist today for a LOT of work! Included was the extraction of my upper right side back tooth. The dentist told me not to blow my nose for a few days as the Cavity is very near my sinus.
Unfortunately I had a Sneezathon a half hour ago and things are not as they should be.
I can now inhale and exhale through the hole where the tooth was!

IANAD (obv) but get attention ASAP if there's still air whistling 'twixt nose and mouth tomorrow. You really don't want this to become a permanent 'feature'.

I don't know how these things get 'plugged' but there must be a way.

I did a spin class today. Dear $deity those bikes are uncomfortable. Very strange sensation too, it won't freewheel. Nearly bunnyhopped the thing the first time I tried!
