There are two ways you can get exercise out of a bicycle: you can
"overhaul" it, or you can ride it.  (Jerome K Jerome)

Why is the Citroen logo shaped like that?

What a toothsome problem - let me cogitate for a moment

Recently it wasn't - some marketing swine got his swiney tusks into it.  The latest ones have returned to the original idea but made it a bit less spiky, probably not to seem so agwessive.

Anyway, André invented double chevron helical gears.

Very glad to know this, as I feel like I've heard people talk about "Idoux et Chanel" but haven't know what it referred to. Also the word vélocipédique is superb and I'm going to use it in English too. "In the secret bunker there is a humoungous box of velocepedic components."

What is it about the furry bastards? Eichhörnchen is also troublesome for many native English speakers.

Getting a class full of French kids trying to say "squirrel" is also very amusing.

C'est quoi ce machin?  Et où en trouve-t-on?

It's a banc napoleonien in Alsace, a.k.a. un reposoir de l'Empresse Joséphine. Back when Napoleon was emperor, he & his missus went round Alsace and she was appalled by the distances women were walking to market and the loads they were carrying, so hubby decreed that every commune of a certain size had to install these by the roadside. The loads go on the crossbar and the backsides on the lower beam.

They're also good for parking the bike against while you're having a pee.
