Wedding date announced as Friday 29th of April.
So that's:

Friday 22nd April - Bank Holiday - Good Friday
Monday 25th April - Bank Holiday - Easter Monday
Friday 29th April - Bank Holiday in honour of a YACF Camping Weekend
Monday 2nd May - Bank Holiday - May Day

Somehow, I think that I, along with millions of others, may not be allowed the YACF Camping Day (I've already lost the May Day  :'(  ). Four bank holidays in 2 weeks seems a bit much.

However, for those that can make it - it makes a 4 day weekend  :)

Some people had already spotted several months ago that Easter and May Bank holiday were very close together and booked 2 weeks off from Tuesday 19th April for the loss of only 7 days.  Now it's 1 less, so even better!

...apart from those of us who have anything to do with actuaries - the exam period is in April, so no-one's allowed to book time off 'cos we've all got to cover for those who are off studying. Mutter grumble.  >:(

Brilliant.

I was already planning on doing the Portmahomack 400 (north of Inverness) on Sat 30th as my 400k qualifier for PBP.

This means I dont have to take a days leave to travel from Edinburgh to the event, assuming of course the Scottish Government follow the rest of the UK and grant this date as a bank holiday for the Jocks.

Dishing out a public holiday might be a display of loyalty to the Crown too far for the Jock play parliament.

I reckon I may as well shut up shop from close of business Thursday 21st April(which may turn into a POETS day) to 0900 Tuesday 3rd May

I suspect huge swathes of Great Britain™ will do the same and it will be impossible to get anything useful done for a fortnight, just like Christmas/New Year/Winterval...

I suspect that we Jocks will, as ever, get the best of it ie an extra bank holiday but without any of the mass organised royal "happiness".

A win - win if I ever I heard one.

I've booked three day's leave.

26th, 27th and 28th of April 2011 for 11 days away from work – Good Friday, Saturday, Easter Sunday, Easter Monday, Tues 26th, Weds 27th, Thurs 28th , Friday royal wedding, Sat, sun, May day Bank Holiday Monday!

Not a bad return, for only three day's leave.

I haven't decided yet, given that it's 5 months away.

Severn Across 400 on the Saturday 30th.

I can cycle to/from the start if transport is up the spout, it's only another 40km each way.

I wasn't going to say anything about this event yet .... but seeing as the weekend is suddenly a BIG one ....

The new for 2011 challenge .... something a bit different .... it's all at   MacRide - Tour   - you can register your entry now!

We did a similar event earlier this year - everyone had a great time, including one couple who rode on a home-built recumbent tandem - places are limited, book early to avoid disappointment ...

The Brevet Cymru.  Unless I can get the preceding weekend off in which case I'll do the Cardiff 400, in which case I'll be mainly drinking beer and riding bikes at the camping weekend!

5 months away? No idea what I'll be doing yet.  Do we have an accurate weather forecast to help us all decide?

Half baked Union Jack cack, surely, to be in tune with the event itself.

+1 minus the ride to the start. Looking for cheap accomodation around Uxbridge.

I'm in Denmark, but they properly with 100% certainty broadcast it.
So I'll be on vacation some place that don't have television.
