It is (very nearly) always 7.30 at Spa so, yes.  It might just be two of you this evening as the rest of us will probably be making our own way there.

We should aim for the Tap Room at the usual time ie 9ish.

Very much looking forward to Market Hill

I'll be out tonight - see you all (however many it is) at Spa Rd at 7:30, hopefully.

@tedshred - you wanna go up Market Hill on your Fixed?

It's not so much going up it on fixed, it's more that I felt I was not far off my limit on it on 69" so I don't quite know what will happen on 77".  I have visions of coming to a halt and lying on the hill looking slightly pathetic.

The Goldhanger section is straight out of the OD compendium of strange routes to the pub.

I was originally going to ride via Tiptree but I might vary my route to try for an intersection.  How could I miss out

Yup! (That little blip is easily missed out if we are behind time at that point).

I am working tonight, so I will not be out.

There were a few roads closed today, I assume for the road crews to spread tar and kitty litter. The did Wash Lane yesterday and signs at Maldon said Goldhanger Road closed today.

Cheers.  I rode the Goldhanger road the other night - they'd already tossed chippings all over it...

We can easily improvise if we come across a closed road, I guess.

Speaking of inches....I have ordered by 16t and 17t cogs which gives me the option of 73ish and 7ish inches so will start to dabble. The 69.5 is a bit too spiny for me but the larger hills should be interesting.

As for the half link chain, it might look tough but it's already knackered. Gone well over the .75 on the Chain Wear tool. I bought a new one while I was in Brugge though so will be fitting that for my DIY on Saturday I expect.

Is it just the half link thing or do fixie tend to go through the chains a bit faster due to the potentially higher loads on them?

My original chain on the Day 01 did a little over 5000 miles before I changed it.  It had gone to 1.00 on the Park gauge by then though.

Ok, that's not bad them. I had read loads of reviews that the half links 'stretch' faster than normal.

My night out has been scuppered again

It's just gone 10pm and the Up North tourists have retired to bed. Although it should be noted that Tomsk wanted to go to the pub but no-one else could be bothered!

Have fun folks!
