"All Points North" - a short tour in Scotland
« on: 26 October, 2017, 10:06:54 pm »
Hi all,  Back in the summer I took myself off on my annual week long tour; this year I chose the North of Scotland.

If you are interested I've written up the first two days - and should get around to days 3-5 in the next couple of weeks:

Day One - Inverness to Lairg
Day Two - Lairg to Durness

Hope you enjoy.  Cheers.

Phew, what a read. Thanks for that. It is lovely to reminisce about places I've been through someone else's eyes. I really liked the photo at Cromarty... Those marching oil rigs are something!

I'm also thinking of a trip to Cape Wrath.

Cheers. G.

Lovely write up. Spent my honeymoon and 30th around that area. There was a lovely pizza place called sutor creek on the black isle and sorry but we saw the dolphins so close in could have poked them with a decent length stick.

A really nice read and you’ve got some lovely photos. You’re making me homesick for Scottish touring!

Great write ups, Captain. I read your others as well as I've toured those areas and now I want to do them all again! I think you love castles as I do, Harlech is my favourite of all the ones I've been to throughout Europe.

Thanks Canardly and TEC.

I do indeed like a good castle - they were a major part of my archaeology degree!  Harlech is indeed rather special and been at the top of my list since I was very young; though most of Master James of St George's buildings for Edward I are pretty ace. :-)

Hi all,

Well I've got around to writing up the final part of my Summer tour in Scotland.  Day Five took in a simple dash across Orkney from the ferry at Burwick to Kirkwall.  Not much of a day of itself but a good end to a great tour.

I'm also going to be cheeky and point you to my new website.  I've been moving my Wordpress pages to my own website which you can find at www.richmay.co.uk - on it you'll find my full write ups of Avenue Verte, C2C and Hardians Cycleway, and Lon Las Cymru as well as last summer's 'All Points North' ride.

Cheers
