Turbo trainer cable?
« on: 05 May, 2018, 09:17:20 pm »
I am finally fixing a turbo trainer (actually Elite Chrono fluid trainer) and it needs a new cable for the handlebar lever. Spare parts seem to be non-existent. I thought it would be like a brake cable with a clamp at one end but the 2mm inner has balls at both ends, not drums or pears. The outer (standard spiral wound brake cable) has a fairly long barrel adjuster.

It reminds me of some types of clutch cables (too long and wrong ends for SA cables). Do I just wander into a car parts place and say "Match this"?

Any chance you can use a solderless tube nipple in one end or other? In that case your best friend might be your local scooter shop.

I am going to have this problem sooner or later on my  turbo, a rather elderly Cycletrak, but it might have broken all its little plastic bits before then!

Not enough room in the mechanisms at either end for a grub screw nipple of either drum or pear shape. I've not seen any other type.
