North London Cycling Groups

A friend might be moving to the Wood Green area.  Are there any friendly cycling groups with evening social rides and weekend social activities?
She doesn't race or ride huge distances, but is competent and experienced on a bike.

I’m not aware of anyone organising rides that match that description.

There are plenty of road cycling clubs round here who do regular evening and weekend rides. - Islington , Finsbury Park, Muswell Hill, London Phoenix, etc. I’m guessing that’s not quite what she’s after though. Islington probably the most friendly of those.

iBikeLondon organise monthly social rides around central/inner London (Facebook is the best place to check them out). The other obvious one is CTC Sunday rides which start outside town.

Southgate CC meets in Enfield at weekends, but only the Sunday morning ride has a slower/more social/touring pace ride – the Saturday and  other Sunday group tends to be a faster/no stop affair. http://www.southgatecyclingclub.co.uk

There's also CC London, who meet in Winchmore Hill. Never ridden with them, though. http://www.cc-london.com/index.html

It could be worth checking out the LCC (London Cycling Campaign) local groups as many do social rides and activities as well as campaigning. You can find out what's on via their website, there is usually no need to be a member, and no need to live in the correct borough.
