YACF Ecosse – End of Year Social Gathering
« on: 04 August, 2009, 02:23:00 pm »
When staggering out of the restaurant last year, I recall agreeing to organising a follow up in 2009.  It’s some months away, however I do like to be organised.

I’m assuming that like last year the event will be on a Saturday evening after the end of audax year and not too close to Christmas.  I’m assuming also an Edinburgh venue, which seemed to work OK even for those travelling.  Plan A is to meet somewhere for a few drinks with dinner to follow.  Unfortunately we can’t exactly replicate last years arrangements as not long after we graced Khushi’s with our presence, it burned down and is currently supported by some serious scaffolding.

However, the same people have opened a similar if slightly less opulent establishment not a million miles away - Khushis Diner - Authentic Indian Restaurant Edinburgh which I expect will tick all the boxes.

I need you to answer two questions -

1.   Are you interested in attending?  If so how many of you (other halves are most welcome).

2.   What’s your preferred date: Saturday 28 November or Saturday 5 December? (the earlier date is two weeks after the last audax event in Scotland in 2009).

I’ll probably ask for a cheque in advance, in order to save me having to do big hard sums after a few beers on the evening.

Associated fun and frolics TBC.

RSVP.

EDIT - NOW CONFIRMED AS SATURDAY 28th NOVEMBER AT 9PM.  SEE MY POST ON PAGE 4.

Yes, I'd be keen - and the first date would be better, I think.

 But of course, plus Mrs eck. I've a title to defend, remember? .
I mentioned this to Noodley yesterday - he thought he'd manage too.

Either weekend for us, but prolly the first would suit most.

Good man for getting this going.  :)
It's a bit weird, but actually quite wonderful.

I'll be there, any of those dates will do.  I might even be able to talk Mrs MK into coming along.

Y Lee G,

Although most of those who attended last year were of the audax fraternity, some were very specifically not of the persuasion (Kirst et al).  Perhaps you could advertise this get-together on another board too - a board that non-randoneurs may frequent?

Since my lovely wife got a sniff of the beefcake at the start of the Snow Roads, she's been really interested in audax  :demon:  [truth] she actually wants to ride an audax and has asked me to set up one of my bikes so she can use it [/truth]

I'll PM those non audaxers who attended last year - I kept a list - and hopefully that will be enough to get the ball rolling but do feel free to spread the word by other means.  I dont frequent too many other areas of YACF so wouldnt really know where to post it other than here.

It's okay I found it anyway  ;)

I have checked my busy social diary and can confirm that both the 28/11 and 05/12 are free, which amazes me as I am sooooo popular and live life on the edge  ;)  I'm also free every other weekend in November and December  :-*

I might have a word with Mrs Noodley to see if she wants to come along to point and laugh at all you freaky audax types have an enjoyable weekend out in Auld Reekie.

I'll sit with the 'partners of freakdom' and chat about 'other things'  :demon: ;D

I'm sure there will be a dark and lonely corner somewhere, where you can sit and witter on about generators and fence-posts.  ;D

(Apologies for the in-joke: it may be explained on the night for anyone curious).
It's a bit weird, but actually quite wonderful.

Nope I am retired.  No points at all.

I'm even going to Cortachy Highland Games rather than cycling the forthcoming Forfar rides on 16th.
