Wantage was mentioned.

Never fear though, whatever the route it will be a fine day out.

Looks like a nice route with potential for some lumpy bits, it must go pretty close to my house from Sutton Scotney to Hungerford (Tutti Pole cafe I'm guessing) so I'll join you for part of it if not all of it.

Sutton Scotney =  feed at garage.

Hungerford = Tutti Twister

Wantage = who knows

Denmead = Fox & Hounds

At a guess.

Note that because costs to Organisers have gone up (see Arrivee page 5) all DIY entry fees are now £3.
Probably other Permanents will go up a bit as well.

If you're looking for somewhere in Wantage there's The Vale & Downland Museum Google Maps

The Anfractuous went there - quite civilised.

I'm crying out of this Postie.

South Bucks 200 was my 2009 curtain call.

A grand day out and thanks to postie for putting a fine route together.

This was my first proper ride since the end of September so I didn't have high hopes of keeping up with messrs Postie and Scampi. As it was, I did't manage too badly, well until after Wantage where my legs failed to accept any more hills. This was not a major disaster; Postie and Alan slogged it out for King of the north Hants Downs while I dropped off into the gathering gloom only to descend (hopefully) fast enough to catch the before the route climbed again.

Mr Sun cheered us up a number of times and the northerly gave us a much appreciated shove home.

Awaits detailed description of route

Hope this helps.

Controls at:

1. Sutton Scotney petrol station (not the Services although if it was wet, this would have been preferable)
2. Hungerford - Tutti Pole
3. Lambourne - shop and receipt (no cafe but there were pubs open)
4. Wantage - shop and receipt (no cafe but there were pubs open)
5. Thatcham - Subway in an arcade

4. Wantage - shop and receipt (no cafe but there were pubs open)

FYI:
There is now an excellent caff in the ex-YHA hostel just S of Wantage. Should be open most of Sat/Sun:

Slightly of route but thanks anyway.

There must be a caff in the town itself. Sadly, the CTC winged wheel on the building just off the square was no longer a cake stop.

I know it's hard to believe, but the museum has the only caff in Wantage! (Which is why we were delighted to find the one in the hostel).

The town only recently lost its cinema too. Odd place ...

[I reckoned you could tweak your route to do
Lambourn-LetcombeR- caff stop - A338 - L somewhere -> rejoin B4494
Sorry, bit more navv-ing than your route]
