Beds of crocuses in our garden, with the odd dandelion.
I've dusted off all those old bottles and set them up straight

Aconites and  Thomasinias in the lawn. Long tailed tits looking for nest sites. A queen wasp in my shed  :o.

On the walk today.  Loads of daffs, only one of which was completely out.  Lots of bluebell shoots, but nothing close to sprouting.  A bank of white frogs bottoms.
Sorry.  That's what the kids called them when they were ickle.
Crocuses.
Croak arses.
Frogs bottoms.

I'll get their coats.
Admission.  I'm actually not that fussed about cake.

My first chaffinch in song this year, on a tree in our road. It was a full-blooded song as well, not the half-baked subsong of last years' first example.

Our first daff opened this week as well.
And last week I noticed that the some of the patch of celandines on my commute home have survived the ravages of the builders and are flowering by the side of the road. Not sure they'll be there next year so making the most.

Lurgy relapse meant I didn't make it to the ALC meet.

But the first ice cream van of the year just arrived.

No ice cream vans in this corner of Outer Londonton so far this year.

Hope they didn't die hibernating!

First ice-cream van of the year here was a fortnight ago.
I'd been doing a little gardening, but had been indoors for an hour when it arrived and I was still cold.
Optimistic or what.

Dunno, a fortnight ago I was in a cafe in Burford, taking a break from being snowed on (hard, stinging snow – yuck!), and tourists were coming in with their kids wanting ice cream.

first wild daffodil of the year on Saturday (24th).
They are usually a lot further behind the garden variety.

I don't think we have any "wild" daffodils. There were some in flower in the park a couple of days ago. That's one flower which doesn't seem to mind if it gets covered in snow.

A fair bit of birdsong in the past few days. Song thrush on Sunday morning in the park, a blackbird in or at least well within earshot of our garden this afternoon...
