Well, we had torrential rain yesterday and then it was back to glorious south coast sunshine. No snow here. I'm still jealous.

Be careful what you wish for...

A Proper SNOpocalypse in Pompey would probably mean that for all points north of Portsdown Hill, it would be The End Of The World As We Know It, as you have to tunnel your way out of the front door.  ;)

We have just enough to make the place look pretty...

We have considerably more now. I haven't seen this much snow in Edinburgh since the early 90s. We had a snowball fight in Princes St gardens.

Only a light dusting here (see rubbish phone photo below of one of our "treated" roads); 5 cm maximum in places with another dusting yesterday and apparently more predicted tonight.
Enough to make quite a few roads impassable to the normal moton in summer equipped car.....

Compacted snow turned into ice on side roads & many pavements here, now turned slick by rain.

I dug out the old steel framed MTB.

The only bike I've got that has basic platform pedals.
On the few places that resembled an ice rink, I rode it like a hobby horse.
No problems.

I spoke too soon didn't I ?  My short commute this morning on several inches of fresh powder was quite interesting !  Its going to be even more interesting once its frozen tonight.

Thundersnow is rare, but not unheard of. I've experienced it a couple of times before.

Thundersnow - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

As was reported earlier, we had a lot of that last Thursday evening.

I've just driven to Maidstone and back with a whole load of seasonal paraphernalia. On the way out, it was a very wintry scene indeed: on the approach to Bluebell Hill along the A2, the sun shone on a snow-covered hillside and it appeared to have a sheet of ice on top of the snow and was dazzlingly bright.

Shortly afterwards, the rain started and now the temperature is about 6°C. By morning, there'll be hardly any snow left in SE England.

Must put my slicks back on and go for a ride.

Just started snowing heavy here.
Only cleared the patio and drive abit ago!!! Had it lovely aswell so mum wouldnt slip.
The fresh snow should be alright though, when it freezes ill just clear it again.
The pavements arent too bad though, still grippy enough. Side roads have been grippy enough aswell aslong as you take care, the snow has been compacted, but with a layer of fluffy-ish stuff that has been thrown up from car tyres/bits of grip.
So hopefully this new snow wont make any difference.
Got to go to Tesco tomorrow with mum to do a top up shop(theres 5 of us and we cant last a week) but shes normally fine in snow. Got to hope it isnt busy because her parking is hopeless, and shes quite a fidget and worryer if i jump in and do it ::-)

Any snow for xmas? Hmmmm who knows.

Heavy snow here at present in the higher lying reaches of west Sheffield too at the moment - roads are being completely covered.
No summer tyres for the last commute of the year to work tomorrow...

Got two buses stuck at the top of the road for some reason. One facing down the hill, after trying to turn it around. One stuck at the top of the hill. No idea why. Where the cars have been going the snow has melted and its just running down the road. So one side of the road is fine, the other half has lovely fresh snow. ::-)
