Couple of inches here in Chesterfield so far.... More in Sheffield...

My good wife set off 10 minutes after me to work this morning...

I got to work (15 miles) in under an hour.
She had to turn back home after 2 miles - the bus got stuck and she was unable to reach Sheffield centre due to sno and gridlock...

I like the snow - things go quiet, all the scars of human despoiling are covered. With the right clothing and kit, riding in the stuff is a pleasure, albeit a bit slower....

Damn right they do. It dumped over three-inches here in little over half-an-hour.

Airport runway temporarily closed.  Oh, the peace.

no snow in Southampton metcheck said snow at 3.00pm   but I bet we won't get any

Met office forecast for Hampshire is now 15-30cm with up to 40cm in places. Do enjoy!

Heading southwards thru the midlands - Rugby, Banbury have snow falls starting now. I'm keeping an eye out, luckily I live south of work (Bicester - Aylesbury). Last week I was lucky, only took me 2 1/2 hrs to get home, some took 5 1/2.  This time I'll be off at the first sign of snow.

No snow here in Leighton Buizzard, Bedfordshire. Due to arrive at 6.00pm, some have forecast, but the snow flakes don't carry watches, so how will they know?

Last snowfall it took me 2 hours to drive home to Waddesdon (between Aylesbury and Bicester) which is normally 30 minutes.

I'm waiting.........

I bet we'll be snow free here in Oxon...

If you win this I shall be annoyed. I am just cancelling a training course to run in Oxford tomorrow and Thursday because the forecast for Oxfordshire is 15-30cm with localised accumulations of >40cm and the people are travelling from Bristol, Exeter, Reading and Brighton.

It's already snowed in Oxford this lunchtime.  Snowing properly here in Cirencester now.  I think the bet's lost Andy.

stopped here, and the Sun's out.  We've had a trivial amount, just enough to make it really dicey when it freezes.

School has just been shut here, for my Lad. Daughter is on an inset day but we expect a closure tomorrow. Now just have to do a 'Let me explain' bit on  Mrs Jaded as to what 'essential' means for going to Manchester tomorrow.  ;D
It is simpler than it looks.

Just think how many pages this thread will extend to if there's no thaw until March. Will we ever get bored of the 'not snowing here' 'light dusting there' 'I want snow' posts? ;)

s'funny, none of the Canadians I know have ever said anything like that. They says things like "Hey, that's pretty cold for you" and so on.

THe lunch time weather forecast was pretty impressive "by tomorrow, there will be hardly a square foot of mainland Britain without snow."

40cm in central & southern England. Rather less here by the looks of it, but I've just been out to stock up on veg.

44 pages of snow reports and 3 weeks of BBC weather horror stories - but, still, NO SNOW FOR US.

Last two days have been freezing (-5 freezing) and, this morning, I watched a darkening sky with great hope.

BUT IT'S JUST STARTED RAINING.

About 2" of wet snow in Liverpool this morning, that melted but it started chucking it down at lunchtime.  Currently about 4" and we were told to go home from work early in case public transport shuts down  :)

Some chaos on the roads, several of the routes out of Liverpool (eastwards) are quite steep. Cars sliding all over the place and buses stuck.

Five hours of snowing only amounted to 2" here. Not impressed.

Oi Sno.

Just bugger off to Gordy's, will ya.

I can report (Tuesady am) we still have NO SNOW AT ALL, although the rest of the whole world seems to be buried in the stuff, according to the BBC.

We may have some forecast for tonight, but I bet it misses us again.

WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHH!
It snowed again here last night.

Mwuhahahaah!

Just got an update from Aalborg, Denmark.

1 metre snow fallen just today, that is just shy for 40 inches. The old man have already been out twice today to clear the entrance. If it continues like this there is talk about closing the local airport. People have still been to work and trains are running I'm sure.
