Snowed in Whitby and Scarborough  yesterday morning. A lorry jackknifed on it.
I think you'll find it's a bit more complicated than that.

NOOOOOooooooooooo!!!!  I don't want snow yet because I'm too chicken to ride my bike in snow :(  I'd like 2, maybe 3 days of it, sometime in Decmeber please.  Enough fior igloos and snowballing, and then it all to go away again.

Well, this year the British Isles have beaten snowy Poland in the first-snow race. Snow was predicted for October, but none has fallen - well, maybe in the mountains, but you expect that at almost 2,000m, and I'm not even sure it's snowed there.

I think we may get another cold winter. There's a log burner in my hall waiting to be installed next week and a big pile of wood in the garden waiting to be burned.
I think you'll find it's a bit more complicated than that.

I got the Alpkit down jacket out today.

It's not very George Michael out there at the minute.

Just had my first snowflakes of the year land on my head.
I am in Helsinki, however (at least for the next 90 minutes).

Very unlike the pattern of weather last year, when we had no frost and unseasonal high temperatures into mid-December.
It's too s*dding warm

Hopefully less than a month before the snow starts settling on the mountains.
It's a La Niña winter, which should give us lots of snow this year!

What's more, though they said it wouldn't happen, of course all the radiators got filled with air. So after they left I went around bleeding them. Except for the one in the bedroom, whose bleeding bleeding valve is too worn to turn, I now discover. Of course our former-neighbour-and-new-landlord hadn't asked for this valve to be replaced---and of course the next time it can be done will be in a year's time.

We got snow today here in Slovakia, while in the UK friends in Chesham tell me that it was -5°C last night there, backed up by a Bucks Free Press report. Brrr!

I'm especially keen on katabatic weather events, as many of you will know. Chesham is significant for the railway embankment which prevents cold air drainage, making it consistently the coldest observed place in Southern England. Well a bit of it anyway. Apart from the bit where they take the readings it's fairly normal.

It's now snowing heavily here and 10-15cm are expected overnight.
My wife is supposed to go to raku/pottery workshop early tomorrow, but since that's in a slightly inaccessible area it means that I will have to drive. (I was planning to get winter tyres next week and mainly for mountain use, not mainland driving!).
Anyways. Snow here means more snow on the mountains and that's a very good thing.

Uh oh

BBC News - UK weather forecast for snow and prolonged cold spell

And I've not got round to fitting the snow tyres yet.

Don't panic. We're under an amber warning here - and it's just raining. Meh.

The weather warning says heavy snow. The forecast says different. Meh.

At least there's grit out tonight (I'm not long home from riding on it) so my entire commute route is gritted. Except maybe not the steep cycle path at the bridge. So a good excuse to ride on the road and get some aggro.

There's some of that white stuff falling from the sky here.  It's not staying around long though.

Mrs Nutty phoned me from Leeds this morning to say it was snowing at the hotel.

I asked her to bring some home for me.

Just got back from a couple of days in Helsinki. Lots of snow, solidly sub-zero temperatures.
That's me acclimatised, so the ride up to York for the AUK AGM will be quite mild  :)

Well I could take 'em off. Or I could commute on the pompino like normal.

Better than last year. I fell off on black ice because I didn't have snow tyres on. For the winter, one bike will be snow bike.

No snow here, but the ice patch outside the village hasn't thawed.  I nearly went A-o-T at about 5 pm on there.

ISTR you should put some miles into your studded tyres before the sno.

If Wiggle don't pull their finger out, I should have the summer to do this at my leisure before next winter... >:(
