Audax UK calendar key
« on: 26 March, 2014, 07:03:03 pm »
I noticed that the key for the calendar event listings isn't listed anywhere on the Audax UK website, and was also missing in Arrivée #123 (I had to dust off the pile of previous editions on top of the wardrobe!), so I thought I'd repeat it here.

Thanks Dibdib. The infomation is present though it is well hidden.

Click the (?) and all is revealed. Though yes, as Celia Imrie might say, perhaps we need some bigger question marks!

As someone who organises an X event can I take exception to my controls being described as basic, they are free controls which may indeed be very nice

Not what the key says  :-\

Is a cafe / hall with tea and cakes at each control considered the norm?

I hope not

"commercial controls and infos only" might be a better description.
OTH - the absence of letter F should indicate the absence of
hall with tea and cakes at each control

frankly frankie

X = you're on your own, pal.

That was my interpretation of X events.

(And have no problems with such events as options can be very good and not limited to cash points or 24hr 'through the flap' fuel stations.)

I have an event which I would not describe as X rated

Start is at a pub

first control is in the car park of a 24h supermarket.  People are there to stamp the card
next is at someones house, coffee and cake is supplied.  People are there to stamp the card
next is a 24h garage, you are supposed to get a receipt
next is a Tesco Express, you are supposed to get a receipt
next is a cafe, people are there to stamp the card
back to the 24h garage!  It has a Little Chef so it's worth two visits!
the finish control is back at the pub and there is rather nice food laid on

So half the controls do not have a person there but I consider this to not be an X rated event

A proper X rated event has noone at any controls - perhaps the organiser shows up at the start and then appears randomly at places during the event.  Often on X rated events there is a postal finish or the card is left somewhere in a shop or bar at the finish

X = you're on your own, pal.

More like, "A big sloppy kiss from the organiser before he/she waves you goodbye"....
