I am begining to wonder if chuntering knee is a contagious condition

We have two staff members at St Nicks currently recovering from knee operations. Knees are just a bit rubbish generally.
Totally agree.

Bad news: In the end the gut-rot from the anti-malarials was worse than the injections.
Hmm ... a lot of people have said that to me.
OTOH, I've had pretty good practice with drug-induced gut-rot thanks to the various diabetes-related medications I have to take (metformin + gliclazide = gastric anarchy!)

Still, taking the long view, even if this trip doesn't come off, and there's no guarantee that it will, at least if I have all the jabs done now it'll be one less thing to worry about when I do have to go to forn parts (for work or otherwise)

Frankly, the whole support system for our bipedal stance is a bit suspect. It rather argues against creationism and intelligent design. If God could get so many animals so perfectly right for their place in life, why did he give us such shoddy legs and spines and make us walk upright?

If I had a baby elephant, it could help me wash the car. If I had a car.

But presumably not bipedally, or He'd be needing new knees and hips Himself by now... ;)

It was more "a mildly unsettled feeling that got a bit tedious two weeks after getting back" than anarchy, so you may not even notice the difference!

Yeah, but he did at least throw in a brain that could invent the bicycle to make up for it...

Bad news: I am ill and have spend all yesterday evening asleep and almost all of today dozing in bed with P.G. Wodehouse and a mug of tea.

Good news: When I woke up this morning there was a marmite sandwich next to my bed. My son had made me breakfast! It was then joined by a cup of tea (made under supervision - his mother's here - but the breakfast was completely his own inspiration) and, gasp, he's just given me a chocolate!  :D

I hope you didn't find it by getting out of bed and stepping on it!  ;D

Ha ha, actually it was much better than that. I heard some noises in the kitchen and a little voice saying something like "I'm making Daddy some breakfast because he's ill" then I dozed off again, and when I woke up there it was on the bedside table (on top of the books and maps and next to the other, empty, tea mug! And why do we call these things tables when they're usually more like drawers or shelves? Well, who cares!)

Bad news: I noticed on my return from work the other night that some…some type had uprooted the miniature apple tree in my front garden and snapped off the supporting stake. Possibly the result of a drunken collision during a night time short cut.

Good news: The tree had been in this position for about three years and had been struggling; I had been considering transplanting it. And now the job’s half done!

It always does to look on the bright side.

Good news.  I found my missing Petzl headtorch in time for tomorrow nights camping.

Bad news. I ordered a replacement yesterday after searching high & low.

Bad news:  I promised CrinklyLion the loan of a map for her Scottish foray, but couldn't find it when I looked for it this week.

Good news:  found a second-hand one on Ulverston market today.  My favourite type an'all:  the wonderful Barts 100,000.  Been reading it for the last hour, reliving old tours and planning future ones.  And being jealous of CL - is it too early to start hating you yet?

I found a treasure trove of old maps in a second hand book shop at the north end of Morecombe sea front a few years ago.

Hurray for mappery making people  :)

Bad news: I'm going out to play with a several of YACFers tomorrow and haven't started baking yet

Good news: I have a plenty of ingredients, a clean and tidy kitchen, a spotify account, a new pinny to test-drive and on past form it's several hours 'til primetime cake o'clock.

Good news: The Daily Mail is being sued for defamation.  ;D

Bad news: By 'Psychic' Sally Morgan.  :(

If only they could both lose the case.

Oh. My. Word.

Please let that get all the way to court and not be sorted out in the lobby beforehand.
