Good news that 6 yo Doberdog doesn't need a cruciate ligament operation that we were referred for yesterday

Bad news is she's got a tumour on the joint, being put down @3:15 today after we brought her home for Mlle Lagaffe to say her farewells.

RIP Portia

I've had to do this twice & was almost distraught on both occassions. In fact I couldn't take the dog to the vet the last time.
It's the reason I'll not have another dog despite the fact I think Aunty Helen's cockapoodle is the mutts nuts.

RIP Portia

Bad news: just had a phone call from my mother - my father has been admitted to hospital with kidney failure.
Good news: it's fixable, and dialysis may not be necessary but matters haven't been helped by the stupendous number of antibiotics he's had to take for A.N.Other condition recently.

Bleh.

Good news: I have won a £25 voucher in the Active Swindon Cycle Challenge.

Bad news: it's for Asda, which is t'other side of town.  Still, booze ahoy!

Good news: The council have replaced the rotten pallisade posts at one of our entrances, and tarmacced over the cobbles. I hate the cobbles, they are spaced just right to trap a narrow road tyre, and set in a square pattern so that this crevice continues for several yards.

Bad news: in the course of this, they've mangled a lot of the guerilla veg we'd planted there, by dumping the new posts on top of them, and somehow spraying them with tar. How they managed the latter I don't know, as the beds are raised at about 3' high.

Hope he gets better. I, too, was in hospital with kidney failure but didn't need dialysis and am 100% back to normal now. Hope he gets on as well!

Just phoned home - his kidney ultrasound came back normal and the IV fluids they're putting in are coming out via the 'normal' route, which indicates to me that kidney function has been restored. He's seeing the consultant tomorrow.

General concensus seems to be that it might be an adverse reaction to one of the umpteen gazillion antibiotics he's been on1. So things are looking up, and whilst it sounds a bit nasty I think my mum is enjoying a bit of a break from having to look after him!

1 - including metronidazole, the antibiotic equivalent of Agent Orange.

Mine was a reaction to either amoxycillin or voltarol but took about two months to recover. Then a year to get off the steroids!

Good news: I can't hear ridiculous volumes of noise from the pub tonight.
Bad news: That's because I can't hear anything over the noise of the bloke upstairs's music.

Good news: we managed to get 7 horses to the show on time and in good order-which involved 3 lorries and a trailer.

Bad news: one of the other competitors fell off her horse and landed face first.

Good news: she has been picked up by the ambulance and although injured seems mostly to have things attached where they should.

Bad news: it means we are now running late-and our last horse was timed for 5:30 as it was! Looooong day ahead!

Good news: I'm not competing, just driving my lorry with other peoples' ponies on board! So I'm going to have a sleep!

Good news: New V-brakes are cheaper than I thought they might be.
Bad news: Which one to choose?!
Good news: They're even cheaper on Rose.
Bad news: But then there's the shipping and whatever exchange rate charges the bank might apply.
Good news: Well isn't it best to buy local anyway?

Bad news: My bike computer has been seriously under reading.

Bad news: I'll need to recalculate everything since I fitted this computer.

Good news: I've done many more miles than I'd credited myself with

Good news: And faster

Is this for me? If so, it was Linton Locks and we were escorted the whole route by the ride organiser

It was just a 50km, but it's my first tentative steps into long(er than normal) distance cycling, maybe a 100 will be attempted soon...watch this space  ;D

Ooh - which one? :)

It's only about 3%, for most of June.  So it isn't going to put much of a dent into about 450km lead you've got.

My (not so) secret plan is to just keep plodding on, and hope I'm hardier than you when it comes to the autumn and winter.  Some hope! ::-) ;)

ETA: Just updated MCL. :D

Still 384.9km behind nonn. :(

Good News: I'm watching an episode of Dr Who with Tom Baker. The cheap special effects are fab :). It has K9 in iT .

Bad News: This is because my eldest charge is ill - he sounds like a donkey when he coughs, it's rotten.  :(

Good news:  My Ti frame has come back from China, all mended.
Bad news: My swim this weekend, postponed from two weeks ago, is cancelled.
Good news:  Now I've got time to put the bike together
Bad news: All the little J's are coughing
Good news:  Now that I'm not swimming they can have the weekend at home
Bad news:  Mrs J is coughing too
Good news:  I think she'll be well enough for her half-iron man on Sunday

Bad news; I sheared off the brakepad post retaining bolt, trying to adjust the pads.

Good news; I had a replacement set of brakes in the junk box
