Carlosfandango....those tubeless tyres we talked about......I'm going to give it one more go so for the second time in 6 months an offer of tyres has to be retracted.

I do have a pair of Hutchinsons and IRCs with a couple of patches on the inside you can have for nowt if you want to try them out.

(and for those that were quick....yes I did change my mind within a couple of seconds and I deleted a post  ;D)

Lets see how much extra Cut Resistance these Schwalbes provide on Welsh roads

Excellent, tippers goes tubeless again ... and in Wales ... on a very long ride.  Draw up a chair folks, settle down and watch the fun commence  ;D

I have gone with the 28mm Schwalbe Pro Ones.

If they are even half as good as they are supposed to be they should be amazing.

Malcolm of Cycle Clinic seems to think the whole tubeless thing is easy but I am pretty much going to be riding G&Y as my test ride.

One thing he did say when I said I was going to go tubeless on the new wheels was "you will be using Schwalbe won't you ?".

If Tippers and I end up at the side of the road together covered in sealant I will not be happy  :o

Mind you, I won't be using them in Wales as I will have gears for that ride.

Is that some kind of new fetish, if so could you take it off to the MED* thread, please.

Why else do you think the north Essex chapter are all so keen on tubeless  ;D

There's nothing like a bit of tribalism, it'll end up like Lord of the Flies, you mark my words!

You started the schism with your mid-Essex supremacy.

On the G&Y with all those flint strewn lanes...good testing territory...I'll see how you get on with them.

What? no mention of IRC ;-)

Now that really would look all wrong

As for switching to them for the BCM, from memory last year the road in Wales are sublime, it was the English bit that was an issue and that has been rerouted this year.

Surely tubeless can't cause more problems than a chain into the back wheel at the best part of 20 mph? Might pack 2 Durano+ just in case and take the carradice after all.

Were you originally going with the Fandango micro saddlebag for two condoms and some lube strategy then ?

not quite....but was thinking much lighter than usual....my previous experience is likely to stop me from doing that though.

Currently, I am still trying to decide if riding 300km on fixed gear a week after getting the bike is a good idea....at the moment that is a no

With all your track experience it should be a breeze.

Anyway, what difference is a few weeks going to make ?  You can ride fixed already and you are certainly strong enough.

Get a 75" gear on and go for it.

Go on, you know you want to

This smells like ted doesn't want to be the only one foolish enough to ride it fixed and tubeless  ::-)

there would not be any tubeless involved....that would be stupid (for me)  ;D

Although, a new cassette and chain could do with a test run prior to the Welsh spin....

No worries tippers, I think I'm gonna go with the new pro ones like ted. If they can stand his power, acceleration and underwater riding they might be good for me.

I saw your new frame and jumble of parts at the clinic, it looks very nice.

Fair enough, you do have special wheel and tyre wrecking talents.

What could possibly go wrong

If I knew how I would put a picture of it on here.

I might stick one into the new facebook group if I am still allowed access to the mid-Essex area.

Probably best that we don't let you in to the seekrit of how to post pictures here, they'll only be upside down or artistically out of focus anyway.
