Should we start a MEMWFGNS thread?

Well if Bobb comes through on his promise to go fixed after the BCM then we won't need to as we will pretty much be that anyway.  Only the heretics will be left using gears

By the way, what is your new bike (which I assume has the facility to change gear) ?

It does indeed have gears... It's a Planet X London Road (mine's in black).

Looks nice in black.  The green one on the website should have been called "OD Green".  It was a little vivid.

Yes, my legal team are already talking to Planet X about them nicking the colour from my avant garde palate. Disgraceful.

Say's the man astride his "belisha beacon orange"  bike.

That bike's old now, I've had it nearly 5 days.

It looks like my next bike will be an equally vivid yellow...

Sorry Tippers, remind me what is your current N ?

As of last week mine was 3.  It is now 4. Hopefully sometime next week it will be 5   I suspect the bling on your CdF alone would account for about 3 of my complete bikes  ;D

Talking of bling and to amuse Carlos in particular, I have just sourced some orange material to make a co-ordinated mud flap for Guilliamo.  I know it won't be a Walomatic Enterprises original but hopefully it will do the job without Bobb and Jiber making loud remarks about being splashed by little bits of mud, the little lambs.

I read the last two words of your post as "little limbs". Talking of short people do you think we'll see DL this week?

Mid-Essex Winter Brevet Populaire Series: new topic wot I started over in 'Audax'...

So I was thinking...

A one-a-month 100km series from say, November to February: X-rated, mid-morning [10:00?] pub start to facilitate ECE-ing to 200. Ride to a good café and back via a few info controls.

I'd take this on myself, as it's not too arduous a project, but is any of the Mid-Essex Crew interested in dipping a toe into the waters of organising?? There's myself and Huggy who could mentor and help get things started.

Start of choice would for me be the 'Battisford Court' Wetherspoons in Witham. Lots of room, decent size beer garden for cycle-parking, good choice of food [and beer  ;D]. Witham has good train and road links and it's not too big a town to find reasonably quick routes out into the countryside. Chelmsford or Colchester would be less attractive. Well placed for routes out to the coast, up to Suffolk [Wally's Cafe?] and indeed all points of the Compass...

Thoughts...?

I don't want to be an organiser but I'm happy to help out. Just let me know what needs doing.

Potentially... Witham is a bit close for an ECE for me.... but a 100 km ride out with friends is always welcome :)

In other news, I appear to have done something to my knee today, it started hurting after I got off the turbo and seems to hurt if I straighten it (front inner right knee)... nothing has changed in my setup so I'm hoping if I give it some rest till Friday I'll be OK... worried!  :o

Joergen

A route based on last Wednesday's ride might be good.

Go on, you know you're tempted to take up the organiser's baton...

Step one is to contact our Regional Co-ordinator ['Iddu' otp] to be set up as a fledgling organiser [bit of form-filling involved here] and to get access to the planner: then check for clashes with other events [probably not a problem in that season], pick a date and start playing with maps. There's the summer for leisurely route checking, route sheet writing and sussing out cafes and pubs for the 50km control.

The events will need to go live in time for the autumn edition of 'Arrivee', but the sooner the better...

I absolutely 1 trillion % do not want to become an AUK organiser. I love organising stuff but don't fancy organising audaxes cos you have to follow rulz.

I am on the verge of filling in some forms...

I will try to explain later if I make it out which is now 80/20 likely.

I think we do need a jersey of some description.  Who's good at designing stuff?  Tomsk?
