Brake hose sealing issues.

Help!

I'm trying to install my hydraulic brakes, but I don't get a proper seal where the hose goes into the lever. Is there supposed to be a sealing agent applied? or is it just the olive, and pin in the end of the hose?

I'm starting to think I may have to pay a pro to do this :(

Shimano?

There are two types of barb that are inserted into the hose. (and two types of hose) Check you have the correct one

I'm impressed with myself. I don't know how, but this is what I managed to do to the olive:

Have borrowed an olive from the other hose.

I bought two spare olive+inserts. I just need to work out wtf I did with them when they arrived...

Just olive and pin and make sure hose end cut at nice clean 90 degrees. Tightening the bolt should then crush the olive against the hose and form a good seal.

I did this once - it seems to happen on new installs if the hose doesn’t fit cleanly through the olive that is already in the lever. You may need to bleed them now too - based on my experience.
