Has anyone transfered a whatsapp conversation to a text file
« on: 09 January, 2022, 04:41:09 pm »
Hello

Was wondering if anyone had transferred a whatsapp conversation to a text file.   There are a few way I have seen how to do that via searching the internet but was wondering if any one had found one way better than others

EDIT: From an android phone whatsapp account.

A simple highlight/copy/paste (to Notepad) works ... spacing/paragraphs need sorting to improve readability.

No, but when you've worked it out there's a bloke called Boris who might like to know how to do it as well.  ;)

It is on a phone, I should update.

But will it keep the time and date details?

In android go to the 3dots menu→more→export chat that will produce a file containing the text and, optionally, media.

Ah - I wasn't thinking there - I use WhatsApp on my PC as well as the phone - my solution was obviously for the PC.

Bit late to this one, but on an iThing there’s iMazing which I’ve used in the past to good effect.
