No. Did he piss in a bucket? And then say, 'Oh, fuck it'?

[1] Unlear as to whether this means Leo's own ear or that of a third party.  Also unsure as to which is worse.
Also not sure which is worse, but pissing in your own ear is bloody impressive in terms of body contortions. Even more so if Leo is actually Leonora.

Now have two dogs peering round my office doorpost to see why the sudden loud guffaw.
I've dusted off all those old bottles and set them up straight

Overheard in a well-known supermarket a while ago.

Indeed. I was just surprised to hear it from a pro.
That is how they became a pro :)

Is it time to repost this?

That's exactly the sort of thing my mum would say.

I'd probably have difficulty too. I almost had to crawl across the Royal Gorge Bridge a few years ago, but I'd paid to get in and wanted my money's worth.  It's narrow and wobbly and you can see the Arkansas river through the gaps in the (wooden) deck, about a thousand feet down

In Brizzle it's the M5 bridge (which has a convenient cyclepath alongside) that does that.  Not only is the view of the drop more terrifying than the suspension bridge, but if you make the mistake of getting off your bike the whole thing bobs up and down at a disturbing frequency every time a lorry goes past.  (Not that riding your bike affects the bobbing, it just stops you noticing it.)

The Avonmouth Bridge (M5) is a post-tensioned steel box girder and would rapidly fatigue crack the deck except for the asphalt on it. A quite complex analysis was needed for that bridge as that structure is being worked very, very hard.

My first trip to Brizzle was on business and the colleague I was travelling with knew me well enough to stop the car to allow me to alight so that I might walk across the bridge. Dr Beardy and the off spring have also crossed many bridges over the years, often to much muttering which I ignore as I regale them of amazing bridge related facts. I have a thing about bridges if you wondered   ;D

Yes. I've experienced that on the M48 bridge to Chepstow.  Not noticeable while riding, but when I stopped in the middle it was quite surprising.

Suspension bridges exhibit their best efficiency with a vertically flexible deck (but torsionally rigid). Given that, it isn’t too surprising that the longest bridge in the world (at the time) has a vertically flexible deck.

The M48 bridge and its Humber and Forth cousins don't seem anywhere near as queasiness inducing, though they do bob as you'd expect for a suspension bridge.  I'm not sure if it's a frequency thing, a scarier view, or that you're more likely to be preoccupied by Weather.

Frequency is affected by length, mass and stiffness. The Avonmouth Bridge has a much higher natural frequency than the big suspension bridges, so truck-related movement/ vibration is more noticeable through your feet (just like elephants!).

Spending the weekend in Bristol as I am this weekend I am looking forward to a weekend of bridge related activities. The main issue is going to be the lack of pedestrian provision on some of the bridges.

I've never noticed any bobbling while riding over the Avonmouth bridge, nor have I been terrified of the drop. But I hate that cyclepath, although it is very useful. It's just so incredibly noisy. It's noticeably much noisier in the middle, where there's just armco and mesh fence between you and the hard shoulder, than at each end, where there's also a solid fence right down to ground level.
