I'm happily ensconced in a small hotel room. I caused quite a stir when I brought the bike upstairs with me, but no one objected. I have Wine and Tea and all is well in the world-or it would be if I could kick this mini cold I've acquired! I may not be firing on all cylinders in the morning...

Well, satnav seems to think I'm 23 minutes away-hotel picked on the basis of proximity to party rather than cycling-anything is closer than slough...is breakfast still planned at the start?

Plan is to set off at 10:30, so plenty of time for breakfast if you arrive earlier.

Barakta and I are going to aim to get there at 9:30 or so, which should hopefully mean that she'll have woken up enough to eat (and, crucially, start to digest) some food before we set off. Doing it all in a rush is where we went wrong last time.

We're home briefly, heading back out to Basil's favourite pub shortly. Time-consuming mechanical aside, that was an excellent ride, and the furthest barakta's ridden so far by a healthy margin. She seems to have got the hang of gearing on hills.
