Good news: Mrs B's mother has sent us flowers for our birthdays (they're on consecutive days).
Bad news: they're ten days early. Has she forgotten when her daughter's birthday is?

Good news! My employer has changed the bicycle scheme and now, you can get a bike at any time, not just at the single entry point. Also, they have increased the value from £2,000 to £3,000.

Bad news: oh nononoonononononononono

You suspect I may need some horizontal transport after Mrs Ham is done with me?

(for those who think "but the cycle scheme has a £1,000 limit" that's only because over that amount the employer needs a consumer credit license, which my megacorp already has)

Yebbut that's all relative, especially when you consider the competition ... (Hide, Drop 'N Lose, Dave's Parcel Delivery, ShittyLink et.al)

On the plus side, it appears that the UPS website will allow you to reschedule delivery to a different address if an initial attempt at delivery is unsuccessful. This could prove to be handy unless the driver displays some kind of initiative and leaves the package with one of the neighbours.

I don't think we've ever had a problem with UPS. Porcel Farce, DPD, Shitty Link and others have been variably poor.
Last Hermes delivery was OK.

D'you know? <whispers quietly> I don't think I've had a problem with any of them.

OK, once with parcel force who stuck a card through my door while I was four feet away reading YACF.  (I ran out but he was accelerating hard)  No big deal - I live ½ mile from the parcel depot.
Admission.  I'm actually not that fussed about cake.

Good news: all the code that was working at the start of the day is working again and there is additional code, which mostly works.
Bad news: that could have taken much less time if NetBeans had been able to spot broken reuse of names in javascript (or I'd been a bit more careful  ). It has been crashing often enough that I'm in the mood for a change anyway.

GN: We received a letter today telling us our finance request for new windows and door has been approved.

BN: It means we will be in hock for the next 3 years, but can pay it off sooner.

GN: It's interest free

BN: It means that the "discount" we get on the windows and doors is less I am a cynic and realise that there is no such thing as a free lunch)

Ultimate good news: we will no longer have a cold, draughty house!

BN: Had an email from Union to say that I'd get my coffee on Friday

extra BN: I ran out yesterday!

GN: The parcel actually arrived last night!

Bad news: I've got to wait TWO WHOLE DAYS for it to be delivered :(

GN: Morrisons had fluorescent light starters for cheaper than B&Q so I could buy both sizes (wasn't sure what I needed) for less than one pack at B&Q.

BN: The tubes don't even try to fire with the new starters. Turns out there's a third size (I'd have thought 4-65W would work in place of 4-22 but apparently not).

Other BN: Looking at the tubes I think it's those rather than the starters.

GN: B&Q had plenty, that's why I didn't buy any as wasn't sure what size I need, thought they came in short medium and long but there were subtle variations around the size I thought I needed.

BN: Means I have to go to the shops again at some point to sort this flickery light.

Bad News: Scorched MDF really, really stinks.

Good News: This can apparently be mostly contained through the strategic use of an Alpkit dry bag.

Good News: Most of today was spent involved in the creative use of lasers.

Bad News: I didn't have any trained on the fecker who smashed up my windows and broke into my car.

Bastards!  I can't imagine that making things any drier...

Lasers++ though.  They make everything better.
