Title: Flevobike GreenMachine?
Post by: oncemore on 30 January, 2009, 11:30:57 am
Anyone ridden or got any "views" on this 'bent? Rohloff plus enclosed drive train SEEMS to offer the ultimate in all-weather utility....but I rather assume must be some disadvantages?

I've had my beady little eye on these for some time now. I too would be interested in opinions.

I suppose anything less than a grand and a half would be a bargain.....

It's rubbish.  I wouldn't bother bidding.

Nod as good as a ....
Strangely, seeing as Ben at Kinetics says OK at 6', appears to be on the small side for me at 5' 9 1/2" judging by the X-seam guidance!

I'd have a punt on the trike also listed except that at 33" it's too wide to get in the storage area! The frustration of feeling like spending some money and not being able to find anything that appeals...

Saved myself £1,550.01 there then! But a bargain really I guess. My £s can live to fight another day...

£1.5k is still a bargain.

I cycled one round Sloten at Cyclevision last year and it was fine. Not a race machine but does a job.  I believe the recumbent shop Lifgfietswinkel has sold a few.

Pros...
• State of the art all enclosed drive system with Rohloff mounted within frame. No more dirty chains or clothes.
• Boom length stays same and seat moves so easy to adjust.
• Distinctive 'award winning' design which means not just another recumbent. People may actually look at it ;)

Cons
• High b/b height due to fact chain runs straight
• Some drive noise because chain is within machine - may be hub gear too as this is not noted for being silent

Flevo are a company to watch as they really went into great detail on the Greenmachine design.
