Thanks all, I can almost feel the fitness seeping out of my legs, it's bloody frustrating.
Amazing how fast it goes, isn't it?

My left arm is visibly thinner in just 4 weeks. Bicep/tricep gone very flabby.

If only it was that easy Peter!
My foot seems to be mending steadily though, it is far less painful.
The most difficult part now is maintaining the patience to not load bear for another two weeks.
It's not all bad though, the build on my large scale model tug is progressing well.

My experience from my ankle op late last year (don't put more than a toe on the ground post-op -for several weeks) was that cycling didn't count - provided one didn't stand out of the saddle and span in low gears.

That was an ankle and not the foot though.  Certainly easier to cycle than walk though.  :-)

Yay! Now out of plaster.
My foot is still very swollen and I can still see the bruising but, what a treat to laze in the bath!
I have to wear an "Aircast" splint for six weeks and must gently build up to full weight bearing over that time.
The swelling precludes the wearing of cycle shoes, so still off the trike for a bit.
Guess I could ride the Harley though!!

Glad to hear that you are on the mend Simon.   Hope to see you around a bit this year even if you've got your feet up.

If you and Joyce fancy a summer tour let me know!

Klaus is hoping to ride his new Velomobile to the North Sea coast in NL at some point.

Bugger Bugger Bugger, just as my foot is on the mend, Mrs Miggins otp takes a dive down the stairs.
She has bashed herself up big style and has fractured C2 vertebra and back of her skull.
The only good news, is that she appears to have no neurological damage and has full function in all limbs.
They kept her in hospital for two days but allowed her home this evening.
Of course, now neither of us can drive. Thank god for Internet shopping.
Joyce will have to wear a collar for at least six weeks which has really cheered her up with her daughter's wedding in five.
I will just have to airbrush said collar so that it matches her outfit.
2016 is going so well!! >:(

!   :o

"She was lucky" hardly seems appropriate, but it's the sort of thing my gran would have said.

Heal well both of you.  Maybe consider staying at ground level for a bit?  Dangerous stuff, gravity.

Bloody hell.  Please, look after yourselves!

Hopefully she's recovering from what you say, but maybe stay on ground level like Kim says?

Glad to hear there is no more serious damage, but phew, that's scary.

Hope that Joyce heals quickly.  As for the wedding, a nice stole or scarf ?

Well bloody hell.  Whoever said on New Year's Day that this year would be less than happy, must have had a premonition.

GWS Mrs Miggins.  Big massive gentle hugs.
Milk please, no sugar.

As per another thread 'Gravity sucks'.

Statistics suggest that membership of yacf, or close connection to a member of, leads to broken bones.

Well this is proper oneupmanship and no mistake.  I wrecked my arm in January and then mrs Caerau broke her wrist a few weeks later.  Thank god for internet shopping indeed.  Glad to hear we're not the only family bump around.  :jurek:

More seriously.  Ouch ouch ouch - get well soon Mrs Miggins.  :(

Mrs Miggins is on the mend.
Most of the random bruising has now healed and she is feeling a lot better.
We went to see her GP this week, just for a chat really and for a bit of reassurance on the healing process.
The doctor had the hospital report available and she took the time to go through the list of ailments.
Joyce had not realised that along with the spinal fracture, she had fractured the back of her skull.
The doctor was adamant that Joyce must be patient and let her brain heal, she explained that concussion can take weeks to recover from.
One very interesting and somewhat curious side effect, is that Joyce's eyesight has changed focal length.
Her glasses are completely wrong. The doctor was mystified by this and suggested a visit to the optician.
Unfortunately, this proved to not be possible at present because the support collar that Joyce has to wear, gets in the way of the testing equipment.
We have made a further appointment when the optician will avail herself of hand held test equipment.

My damaged foot is much improved!

Blimey.  Just read about Mrs. Miggins.   :o

Look here you two:  Get a ruddy bungalow and stay away from steppy things, eh?

Hope that you both mend well and quickly and that we see you out and about later in the year.
